In Short – Cary Towne Center is a best bet for shoppers who like the big chain stores like Express, Structure and the Gap. It's also a good spot for department store lovers, offering Dillards, JCPenney, and Sears as well. Other notable stops among the 140 stores are Light Years (cool gifts and jewelry) and Journey's (trendy shoes). The mall has a large food court, plenty of parking and easy access from I-40.

NOT KID FRIENDLY!

by sharijean at Citysearch

Not a KID-FRIENDLY mall! Take your little one and shop at Streets of Southpoint or Northgate, where they like kids! They pulled out a fun area for kids to play...and gave a small business owner a few DAYS to remove the area. Ridiculous! This was an almost daily treat for my two year old...and while I was there with her I spent A LOT of money there! She looked forward to riding the train and jumpimg in the jumpie castle, and was a little angel while I shopped because of that. While I SHOPPED IN THE ANCHOR STORES THAT COMPLAINED and led to the mall getting rid of this fun area. I NEVER would have bought a $599 leather coat in Macy's, or my cosmetics that I usually buy at Sephora, or clothing in Macy's and Sears for my daughter...the traffic to that area brought them my business, and that's the thanks I get for being a regular shopper? I will take my money elsewhere. If you don't want "that kind of image" in yuor mall, you must not want kids, and believe me, Moms with kids are the ones spending the money. BYE BYE!

Cartoon Express (train)is being asked to vacate the mall

by karensmith2000 at Citysearch

Today March 28,2007 it has come to my attention as a concerned parent that the mall management of Cary Towne Center in Cary NC is forcing out a small business. As a parent I have always enjoyed being able to go to Cary Towne Center in Cary NC for the simple fact that they cater to my children in terms of kiddie attractions from the carousel to the jumping house and in October when they added the train to their attractions. At least once a week (sometimes more) I have had the privilege of taking my children to this mall just to see their faces light up with joy. That being said on April 1,2007 Cary Towne Center has asked the Cartoon Express (the train) to leave their premises because certain anchor stores have complained. If all that Cary Towne Center wants to be is to cater to big business so be it. But for me as a concerned parent I will no longer be shopping there. If I want big business malls there are plenty to chose from in the area. I enjoyed Cary Towne Center because of their small town feel, but no more. If you are a concerned citizen of Cary whose children have enjoyed the cartoon express, let the mall management know. It is not too late to do something about it. We have time, but it is in short supply right now. Mall Management number is 919-467-0145 and Cartoon Express number is 919-481-4229 or email me at karen_a_smith2000@yahoo dot come and I will forward all correspondence. Let mall management know we oppose this and let Cartoon Express know that we are behind them 100% and that this is just not right. This is the land of opportunity and big business is still trying to make sure the small business owner does not get ahead. It is time to stand up and make our voice as concerned parents and citizens of Cary heard.

  • Pros: I used to enjoy it
  • Cons: Less kiddie rides because Cary Towne Center is asking them to leave the mall by April 1, 2007

good cofee, good location, easy parking

by rachaelgaston at Citysearch

Cary Towne Center has recently redone the tile, which has made it look nice. There is an excellent little coffee place called Gloria Jean's. It has great milkshake/coffe mixes. I'm dissapointed in the shopping, there are no good departent stores, and not many stores at all. I go to Cary High, and although Cary Towne Center is so close to us, everyone prefers Crabtree. I am looking for more high end shops, and Cary Towne center has nothing like that to offer. There is a good food court, and not to much traffic or business. When I forgot my bag at the mall, the people didn't trust me, and I had to go through an hour and a half of questioning and paperwork just to get it back.

  • Pros: everything is cheap, good food court, not many people
  • Cons: not enough variety, all chain stores, not enogh stores, especially for preppy people
