New to town - found great help. We moved to the area about 18 months ago. After shopping several furniture stores we found Nowells. Our salesperson asked a lot of questions and made us feel like he really cared. He came out to the house and helped us get some new ideas where we were'nt sure what to do. The new furniture looks great! We're still waiting for one item - but they've been great about delivering our new furniture as it comes in.

Not Worth The Drive. From their ad in the April 1st issue of the Independent, stating, if you spend $500.00 or more on anything at Nowells, you'll get $100.00 back in cash. We went to look at a Stressless chair and ottoman. It turns out that the sale doesn't apply to that brand. We drove all the way from Fuquay and couldn't help but feel mislead and a little ticked off.

beautiful store and great service. They have great looking furniture, and the person with whom we dealt was more helpful than any furniture salesperson we've ever met. We just moved to a new house, and aren't really sure what to do with it. None of our old stuff fits. The guy who helped us (Steve) wasn't pushy at all, but he asked all the right questions to help us figure out what we need. We'll shop there again.

A great experience!. My husband and I purchased several pieces of furniture from Nowell's last spring, we loved our sales woman, Corrie, as well as all the furniture. We had a small problem with our loveseat and Nowell's repaired it the very same week. We are impressed and very happy to know that they stand by their products. I think that's a major accomplishment these days.

We have, and will continue to recommend their store with its marvelous selection of merchandise.

Questionable service. I tried to purchase a bed and a mattress from Nowell's. After several delays on the bed (I would have to wait for a total of 16 weeks from the date of purchase before delivery), I asked if I could get the mattress earlier. The response was yes, but nobody told me I would be getting the floor model mattress as a result. The delivery coordinator mentioned that he would be delivering a floor model, when I had been told by the sales associate that I would be getting a brand new mattress.

When I told the sales associate that I would not accept a mattress not wrapped in its original packaging, she informed me that Nowell's often ships its items devoid of any extraneous packaging and that I wouldn't be able to tell. The store owner also confirmed that some floor model mattresses are still wrapped in their original packaging and indistinguishable from a brand new mattress that had not been tested by customers.

Nobody should pay full price for an item that may have seen an untold number of backsides. This could have been purely a communication issue or not. It's hard to know. Use caution and stay informed when purchasing furniture from Nowell's. Hopefully your experience is better than mine.

best furniture store in town. Cool furniture, helpful staff, and prices seem reaasonable. Discovered the place by accident when lost in Cary. If you like modern stuff, this place is great -- reminds me of somethign you'd find in bigger cities. The Apparently, they've been in business for a century, so they must be doing somehting right. Nice leather recliners. Not cheap, but really nice.

Great Furniture and Helpful Staff. There was a New Year's sale going on when I was there and the place was packed. I have never seen so many people in a furniture store in my life. My salesman still took time to answer my questions, even though he obviously had his hands full. Everyone was helpful, and nice. They even offered me a glass of wine while I was waiting in line to check out, which was a VERY nice touch. The delivery men were a few minutes late (bought the chair January 1, they delivered it the 8th). They called ahead to let me know they were running behind, though, and once here, they were professional and did a great job. Prices are good, but I haven't found anything else around here like this store, so can't really compare. All in all, it was a very good experience. I'll shop there again.

Great furniture, lousy sales staff, high prices. The furniture in this place is awesome but the sales staff is quite poor. I recently purchased furniture there (not available anywhere else in the area) and the sales person was extremely unknowledgeable, kept changing the price of the furniture by thousands of dollars (apparently didn't know how to look it up correctly and acted like she couldn't be bothered), and was not very pleasant even though i was spending a considerable amount of money. I eventually requested a different sales person who was a little better at least.

The prices are also very high and their 'sales' aren't much of a sale at all for the most part (usually like 5% or so). In addition, the last time I purchased something there they damaged the furniture during delivery. They said they would send someone over to fix it but they never did.

So, if you want awesome furniture, have lots of money to spend, and enjoy poor service, this is the place for you! :-)

Great service and selection. We've been shopping at Nowell's since we moved to the area almost 10 yrs (and 2 houses) ago and continue to feel it's the best place in town for contemporary furniture. I'm not sure what's caused others to detect a "we're too chic for you" attitude, but this has definitely not been our experience. It is a small, local business so it does have limitations, but we've always been satisfied that we can find something within our price range. And the staff of designers has always been very considerate and helpful. While Cherry is cool and certainly expensive, it's probably great for single professionals who want that fashionable new high rise downtown. We've found we can get the same European styles for a lot less money at Nowells. It also carries furniture that is practical for every day living, with kids and dogs and all the other stuff of life. What we've appreciated about Nowells is being able to mix style and comfort, which is really important, I think. The only draw-back is sometimes having to wait for things that need to be imported (although that also has an upside as we have unique furniture that can't be found in every house in our neighborhood). I'm not saying we've never had a problem there -- it would be inevitable given the amount of furniture we've purchased there -- but iwhen there has been an issue, it has always been handled professionally and to our satisfaction.

love this place. I' ve been shopping at Nowell's for years and there's no other place like it. The designers are always knowledgable and helpful -- almost everything in our house comes from Nowell's and we love it. Its' definitely worth a trip to see all the fun classics.
