Tips for Pickled Onion

The guy who bartends on Sundays is RUDE! He is nice to the regulars that he seems to stay an drink with after his shift, but other than that he not very concerned with making anyone else happy. The tall girl that usually works with him is great! Ask for her!

I have always enjoyed the pickle onion. The food is always good and the drinks are tasty. And 15 tvs is awesome for a neighborhood bar.

Rude waitress. Wow, I just got back from this place and the waitress yelled at me! No kidding! She's short, dark, thin, long hair... I went inside (from the courtyard) to use the bathroom, and no one was inside. A waiter said I could cut thru the bar area, and so I did. After, I went back the same way, and she yelled at me! Trying not to make a scene, I ignored her, and she yelled two more times at me! Couldn't believe it. Had she told me kindly, I would have told her the waiter said I could cut thru, and I would have apologized for cutting through. Then, during the meal, she totally ignored me at my table and turned on a super artificial nice act to my friend. Food was okay, took long. For the first time in many many years, I left less than a 20% tip.

Gotta' say, tho, that the courtyard is charming.

World Famous Wings. I work at a local auto garage & I just wanted to say how much the staff & I loved those world famous hot wings. The wings are on point every single time we order! Thanks for having good food. The burgers are good as well.

One of the Worst Meals EVER!. They need to update the ratings on here, I'd give it -5 stars. I had been trying to go here for quite some time. I wish I had gone somewhere else. I walked in, and initial thought was DUMP! I ordered a BLT. Simple enough right? Well that was a mistake. It came out and I have seen more bacon on a Whopper! 1 slice on each half!? The fried green tomatoes are clearly frozen from Sysco. I asked the waitress " where the bacon was?" She brought me 2 slices of hard, burnt, inedible bacon. I ate the fries and not the sandwich. She didn't comp the meal, or ask me why I never ate the rest of it? The bartender looked like she was on something and spent more time sitting at the bar with a customer than anything else. The waitress was nice, untl she called my 10 month "cranky". Terrible food, never go back. I agree with the other review...Pied Piper Blows this place away. No wonder there were 4 people there on a Saturday night. My advice, go to Burger King over this dump. If they can't make a simple BLT how bad is the rest of the food? Plus, you'll get more bacon on a Whopper at Burger King!!!

Do I have to give it any stars?. The 1 star reviews are correct. The manager looks shady at best. The food was not fit to eat, at least my burger wasn't. Do yourself a favor and go around the corner to Pipers. That's a decent pub, not this place. Won't be open much longer from what I can tell.

How Is This Place Still Open???. I started a CitySearch account specifically to review this place, I really wish I had read the reviews before we ate here.

When you walk in the first thing you notice is the weird smell, can't describe it but it wasn't the smell of food. Well fresh food anyway.

We sat down at our table and our waitress barely acknowledged us as she was too busy talking across the room to the bartender, she was able to do that because even though it was dinner time on a Friday night, there was hardly anyone in the place. That should have been our first clue.

Dinner came, I also had a raw burger, which I sent back. When I finally got the burger back the mayonaise that it came with was half congealed, so it was that transparent yellowish color. Gross! I am starting to get sick just writing about it. Not sure if saving 4 cents worth of mayo is Pickled Onion policy or if our waitress was just that lazy...it's not like she had that much else to do.

There is no way anyone without a vested interest in this place is handing it 5 Stars. As the previous poster pointed out, clearly the owners and/or staff are writing all these glowing reviews and then negatively going after anyone who writes an HONEST review of this place.

Most of the "5 Star" reviews and "customers' who follow up on negative reviews are from people who have never reviewed anything before or since, or if they have written other reviews it is to trash other restaurants in the same area as the Pickled Onion. Classy.

Great Local Pub! "Cheers"!. We love this place. It is a comfortable laid back bar with great food.

My son and I LOVE the burgers. (we do not order good beef medium well EVER so we have not experienced the problem mentioned by other reviewers) French fries (and sweet potato fries) are crispy, salty, and perfect with the ice cold beers they serve in frozen pint glasses.

I personally enjoy the Ahi Tuna over a ceasar Salad, or the Blackened Salmon fillet same way.

As of 2011, there is a new chef named Paxton, and he and Travis are fantastic. Great soups, and other specials all the time.

To the employees and my fellow Onion customers: There will always be people who are unhappy no matter where they go. Ignore those reviews. Focus on the mubers of us who are thrilled with your cheerful happy service, and move on!

Keep the beer cold, and the soup warm, we will be back soon!

Employees insulting and degrading customers on citysearch?. My burger wasnt good and took a long time to come out. The atmosphere kind of matches the crappy food too...

Let the responses from "staceystacey" begin...now.

But let me beat you to the point...

From what I can see, staceystacey began posting on The Pickled Onion's City Search page on November 9th, 2010. In the review, she comments on her first visit to the Pickled Onion "this weekend" and she lauds the bar for her own reasons, which, although I dont agree with them are her opinions and she is entitled them.

On the same day, and on occasions since then, numerous negative review about the "P.O." have a comment from staceystacey. In a comment on a review with the title "Very bad 1st impression", she makes fun of the reviewers music tastes. In another review she comments on how she goes to Karaoke "every friday night", contradicting her review saying she visited for the first time in a post written the previous day. In this comment she tells the reviewer to lighten up and signs it with the name "Lisa D"

These comments defending the Pickled Onion and degrading its dissatisfied customers, coupled with other comments from roughly the same time saying the same things seem fishy.

The real kicker is a review from another person celebrating the Pickled Onion with the name...Lisa Dee.

For a place that only has 15 reviews, it seems odd that multiple people will find come across a bad review and find it "not helpful" and write a comment. The comments contain facts like what people were drinking and how they were paying for their meal. These are things any customer wouldnt know. It seems to me that "staceystacey", "whakusa", "Lisa Dee" and "kate 420" are employees or management using citysearch to demean disgruntled customers.

There is a small chance all of these facts are just a coincidence, and I hope they are. But to me it looks like employees or management of the Pickled Onion are defending their bad food and mistakes by insulting and degrading the very people who can help them.

The taste of bad food will go away and poor service is forgivable, but the idea of employees openly insulting their detractors is appalling.
