Tips for Battistella's New Orleans Kitchen

This isn't Bourbon Street?. I never had a chance to visit Battistella's in its old location. The new location downtown is incredible, very charming very authentic! The best part being the chalkboard listing where the ingredients are sourced from. Enough about the Decor! THE FOOD, we were lucky enough to be there with a group of seven. So tasting almost the whole menu was great. There was not one thing on the menu I wouldn't order. The Shrimp and Grits(which I order anytime I see on the menu) is the best I've ever had PERIOD. If I were FORCED to find something not perfect I would have to say the lack of Bananas Foster on the menu.

A little taste of home.. Gumbo rivaling my mawmaw's. étouffée over blackened catfish, red beans and rice so smoky you expect to find wood, and finish it off with bread pudding and bananas foster. love it. Made me homesick. Hard to find, but worth the effort. Been back twice in a week.

Worst service ever!. The four of us went in this place on a friday for lunch. Some friends of mine spoke well of the food. We had to wait 30 min before our drink order was taken of which we never recieved them. With our lunch break half over and we had to leave. We didn't even get to try the food! There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to who was served first. There was no management on staff. Don't bother if you're in any kind of hurry!

Five stars? What does Herons get? Ten?. I can't give a top rating to a place that uses paper napkins. I can't give a top rating to a place that serves only beer and wine. And, I can't give a top rating to a place with cheesy "entertainment" in the form of a one-man-band/keyboardist/vocalist.

Give 'em credit for good service and give ‘em credit for good food.

Blackened shrimp po-boy was good. Fried green tomatoes with crawfish was very good. Gumbo was good, but not served hot enough.

Best Gumbo this side of the Mississippi!!!. I was very irritated when trying to locate this restaurant. But rest assured that the trouble was well worth it!!! I enjoyed a bowl of gumbo that tasted like it came straight out of the mud of Mississippi.. The Crawfish Etouffee was splendid and I even tried some of their bread pudding covered in white chocolate sauce which left me yearning for more even though I was so full I was literally about to explode. I also went for brunch on Sunday and had the corage to try a new dish... The chicken Pontalba has got to be the best thing I have eaten in my life. Chef Battistella really knows was he is doing. Probably because he cooked for Commander's Palace in the garden district of New Orleans, which has a 4 diamond rating by AAA. I am recommending this restaurant to everyone that I know.

A Taste of New Orleans. In this cozy atmosphere, you could pretend you were in the French Quarter. The food was delicious and well presented. The menu selections were very pleasing. The beer was true Louisiana. And the bread pudding was to die for. My favorite was the Fried Oyster Salad. Exceptional! Friendly wait staff and great service make this a true gem. This Chef is incredible. Perfect place for quiet dinner for two or a group ready for great food.

Best Cajun food in the Traingle!. This place is amazing! I eat here at least once or twice a week, and they just recently started opening for lunch, which I'm really psyched about! The food is amazing and very authentic. You can get something as simple as Shrimp 'n Grits or a Fried Catfish Po' Boy w/a side of Creole Coleslaw, or something fancy, like a Blackened Chicken & Goat Cheese Tart, or maybe some Crawfish Étouffée. For desert, my favorite is the Bananas Foster that has caramelized bananas and a really yummy rum sauce, all served over vanilla ice cream, but I also really dig the Bread Pudding w/White Chocolate Sauce. I can't say enough good things about this place. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and haven't been disappointed once. The chef even comes out and greets you sometimes to see how everything is, which is a really nice touch.
