Best Italian in Cary!.
If you like Italian cuisine...You MUST vist San Remo!
Last week I stopped into San Remo for the Lunch Buffet on a recommendation of a friend. Every dish was a fantastic surprise and delight to the palette. I found their selection to be be both fresh and broad.
The staff was very friendly and down to earth, so much so that they made you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in.
Great Food, Great Price!
San Remo has made my lunch rotation for certain. And I will also be adding San Remo to my dinner card.
Enjoyed it - Often.
The buffet at lunch is diverse and very filling for the price. You definitely get your moneys worth! The fresh dough knots/balls with icing and chocolate drizzels is the bomb. I've been for dinner about 3 times since I have lived in the area. Each time the experience has been excellent. The obviously family run restaurant really makes you feel like a part of the community/family (and I'm not Italian).
If you want great food at a good price, this is the place to visit. The Baked Lasagna is a steal for the price! BTW, went there one night for a "wine tasting".....WOW, what an experience that was. You got to try it!
soggy bread, monarch sauce?. It's taken me a litle while to post this review, but after reading several of the others, I noticed that there are complaints about the bread. While it may be faccacia (sp?) type, it is definately in spirit only. The bread is soggy and the sauce tastes like the tomato paste you would get at a fast food pizza buffet restaurant. the entree(s) that i have had here are okay, but only okay because the prices are pretty steep. Probably, you'd be better off buying a can of tomato paste yourself and spending 20 minutes making sauce instead of wasting 50 bucks on two people for poor bread and overpriced food, no matter how appetizing it may smell. i have never had too many issues with the service, but in my past visit, the high school type atmosphere of the establishment is obvious and that is something I do not want to tolerate when I'm spending hard earned money. I want atmosphere with my food, not squeals and gossip and chatty staff who don't care about my needs. Definately gone downhill. I think in Cary I'll be going elsewhere from now on.
went to eat, but closed. I went to go to this establishment to eat, but it was closed before the posted hours were reached. I had been here before, with satisfactory results, but it is irking to try to get something (to go even) and to be hamstrung by the place not even being open when you try to go in! I won't be back, open or not!
Poor Customer Service.
My family and I went to San Remo for the lunch buffet and the food was day old and cold. The owner Johnny was very dry and cold when we mentioned our concern.
Very slow in getting food and drinks. Food is bland.
The small dinining area is unclean as is the carpet. Do yourself a favor and go elsewere!
Delicious Food. My family ordered take out from San Remo this past weekend. We were very pleased with the experience. My husband and I shared the appetizer special (prosciutto wrapped shrimp) and the steak special (10oz. filet). They were both very delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. We ordered chicken fingers and baked ziti off the kid's menu for our children. My son ate every bite of his chicken fingers meal. My daughter barely made a dent in her baked ziti because of the very generous portion we received! We would recommend San Remo to anyone.
Best Italian food. Hubby and I love to try different restaurants but we no longer try new Italian restaurants. They were never as good as San Remo's. We know everyone by name and always have good service. The food is the best Italian in the area.
I love this place!.
I moved to this area from the N. Raleigh area a couple of years ago and immediately set out to locate an establishment to entertain clients and to dine regularly. I found it when I walked through the door the first time and was warmly greeted by Carla (front manager/ bartender/owner's sister). I patronize San Remo a minimum of 4 times per week for lunch or dinner, alone or with clients, and have never experienced the problems I see in some of the other reviews.
The food is always good, the staff courteous and efficient. Johnny, the owner, is a fabulous chef and enjoys his patrons. Carla and Julie are excellent bartenders. Wait person Rachel (mentioned by vlsmith4 in her review) has waited on us many times, and I have not one negative remark to make about her.
I'm sorry vlsmith4 had such a bad experience. I usually try to discuss coupons in advance, take notice of hours of operation in establishments I patronize and treat all staff as I like to be treated. I guess that's why I don't have a negative experience to report here.
Try San Remo (not San Carlo). I'm sure you'll have an enjoyable experience! And many of you will be pleased that San Remo is now a NON-SMOKING establishment.
Awesome Restaurant!!!!.
I have been dinning at San Remo for several years now and the food and service is outstanding! Chef Johnny creates incredible dishes and the nightly specials are amazing!!! Carla and Julie are a delight behind the bar and can fix any type of drink you can imagin. All wait staff are professional and welcoming!
The atmosphere is quant and elegant. An excellent dinner choice or just a wonderful place to go for a glass of wine and great conversation!
I highly recommend San Remo to anyone who has yet to dine there! You will return many more times!!!
terrible lunch buffet. I guess you get what you pay for. The much ballyhooed lunch buffet that I read about on the website failed to live up to expectations. I was on the border of Apex/Cary and wanted some Italian fare for lunch, but this was very disappointing. It is never pleasant to have old food on a buffet. I understand that buffets are money makers for the business, but can we get something that isn't rock hard or that hasn't been sitting out since lunch opened? I won't be going back for lunch, that's for sure.
