Authentic Thai. My wife and I are always looking for great Thai restuarants and definitely found one in Tom Yum Thai. We found the staff to be very welcoming and the food to be incredibly good. My wife, who is Thai, said this restuarant makes her feel like being back in Thailand. I would be in total agreement with her. We highly recommend Tom Yum Thai to all of our friends and family.
Great food. I like Thai food and tried many Thai restaurants. The owner of this restaurant is very friendly. Their food tastes very good and pretty. The price is affordable.
Awesome and affordable place for lunch. had the green curry with chicken and a Tai tea. Both were great. the service also had a thorough and personal touch. now one of my top five lunch spots.
Great restaurant. Staff is very nice and we have always received great service. The food is delicious and fresh and the portions plenty.
No a good place for dinning out. A lip print on the cup ruined my dinner.
Wonderful food. Tom Yum apparently changed hands last spring; we've been a couple of times since then and the food has been wonderful. Most places are too timid when spicing for Americans; Tom Yum knows exactly what I mean by "hotter than American hot but not as hot as Thai hot." :-) The prices seem a remarkable bargain; the decor is very pleasant and soothing, and service has been excellent. Highly recommended!
Good, not great.
The food was good, although the cashew tofu was overly endowed with onions, a cheap filler. I would have liked more vegetables and sauteed tofu instead of deep fried. On the other hand, Orange chicken, a dish that's often too sweet, had a really nice fresh orange zest overtone. Portions were generous. Tea was oddly a smoky lapsang souchong, rather than the traditional Thai spice tea. Coffee was simply American coffee, and instant at that. Bleagh! Forget dessert. Not worth the calories. Bland. Garish.
Overall the food was good, well prepared, served quickly and pleasantly. However, the owner came over to ask us how we found the restaurant, since he noted we hadn't been there before. I have never had such an in depth survey of the effectiveness of advertising before at a restaurant, and it was intrusive. I sense a desperation in these folks; I hope they survive. There's a lot to like here.
If you want Thai in the triangle, go to Tom Yum Thai.
I have to say that Tom Yum Thai is the best Thai restaurant that I have been to in the Triangle. The menu has a great selection of items, some not available elsewhere, with the lunch menu offering an excellent value.
The table ordered Red Curry Chicken, Masaman Curry and a special that was on the menu, Orange Chicken. All the dishes were superb. The restaurant also offers sticky rice and crispy dried beef, which were very good as were the Thai spring rolls.
Best Thai Food!. Have been going to this restaurant since it opened. Started going for lunches and then took the whole family for dinner. This is now the family favorite place to eat. My kids don't eat fast food and they love the food at this restaurant. Thai spring rolls and Thai dumplings are delicious. Main dishes, we keep trying all different and every one has been fabulous. Last time had the flounder special with basil sauce and the amazing chicken which lived up to its name. Green curry is a favorite along with the pad Thai. Don't pass on the desserts. They make their own coconut ice cream that is to die for. I love the sticky rice also. Every time it has been consistently great. Atmosphere and service are also tops. The owner always remembers us and openly welcomes my 3 kids.
"Yum Yum" to Tom Yum Thai. I think I have tried every Thai restaurant in the Triangle, oftentimes being dragged to them by my wife who spent part of her early childhood in Thailand (where her father "General Joe") was stationed. She rates Tom Yum Thai as the best in Wake County...and although not the connoisseur that she is, I most heartily agree. While the awesome lunch specials and convenient location lure her two or three days a week for a midday business meal (typically without me--dang it!), we often find ourselves picking Tom Yum Thai as a dinner prelude to a movie at the Galaxy or Crossroads Theaters. Whether dining inside or out on the patio, the atmosphere is quite relaxing, the service warm & friendly, and the food a simple, but grand, culinary experience. And with the prices sooooo reasonable, it almost feels like our post dinner movie is free!!! Bottom line: I love being "dragged" to this Thai restaurant.
