Raleigh >Food & Dining > Ruth's Chris Steak House
They Have Steak Mastered. I usually try to avoid chain steak houses but I had a business meeting scheduled here by a co-worker and it was an amazing meal! The only reason I did not give it five stars is because it is a chain restaurant.
WORST STEAKHOUSE! WORTH RUTH'S CHRIS!.
If I could give them a 1/4 star, I would. The only good thing (so I thought) was that they opened up in North Hills. My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there and what a let down!! From the food to the service as well as the cleanliness and ambiance!! Fugget about it!! Not worth the time or money to go there. Food (filet mignon) and lamb were overwhelming greasy!! Mashed potatoes & mushrooms & green beans were swimming in butter (although we requested "no butter"! when we placed our order) and big mix-up on our dessert. The service was lousy -- long wait for the waitress and when she did come over she out-stayed her welcome by chatting excessively!! So ----- what did we do? The very next day I sent an email to the RC headquarter's. You would think I'd hear something right away or in a reasonable time like within a week. Not so -- 6 wks later I get a call -- not from HQ or from the manager at the restaurant!! It came from the head chef there in North Hills and yes, we got an apology but at first all I heard was that we should've complained although I told him several times that we complained to our waitress and it fell on deaf ears!! The meal cost us $90 (which I told him)and he said they would mail us a gift card towards to make-up for it. WOW!! Would I expect anything other than what they comped us for? How dare me to have high expectations!! Three weeks later I received a gift card for $35!!!! A third of what it cost us!!
As if this wasn't bad enough -- we went a year later to the Cary location as we had been there a couple of years before and it was phenomenal but the experience was nearly the same. Quality of meat was terrible and we did send it back only to have the same (filet mignon) and the waiter was another clingy one who was too chatty!!
Well, Ruth's Chris -- you've permantly lost two customers!! Your food and service has gone down hill!! Bye! Bye!!!
Food is Great! but the rest is mediocre. Saturday night was my first experience with Ruth's Chris. I will not return to that location. It was a loud atmosphere the server was very fast speaking and acted almost if he was trying to rush us. I called almost a week in advance to make reservations for our prom night. It was only after I mentioned calling Sulivan's did they "fit me in". I got the time I wanted. the day of my reservation May 9 2009, i called and asked if I could add two more. The lady on the other end kindly said yes. I asked if it would affect our time and if we needed to show up later, and I was told no it would be okay. Well it was not, I did not mind standing and waiting but my girlfriend and the girl were in heels and long prom dresses. After near thirty minutes of waiting we finally were sat IN A BOOTH. Girls with prom dresses cannot slide into a booth. After a few minutes of looking at the menu our waiter came and told us the history of Ruth's Chris and every fact i could care less about. After being rushed to order everything else was okay. The food was superb but the layout of the building left me feeling cramped. I will not write off Ruth's Chris because I feel that other locations can do it better. But because of that evening I will continue to patron Sulivan's. The food was excellent but I am not sure that everything else was up to par for those prices.
Overpriced, undermanaged. etcetera
Average at Best.
*Please note before you read my review that management paid for our ENTIRE bill once we told them what an awful evening of service we had recieved - beyond their mistakes, they do know how to take care of patrons*
My husband and I frequent the bar of this particular Ruth's Chris on occasion since its a nice atmosphere and the bar menu is well-priced (Kobe beef burger w/ fries, etc for around $12; generous portions in a caprese salad for around $8) but when we visited one Friday night the service was horrible.
We were seated in the bar and greeted by a manager who took our drink orders and walked away. No one came to speak to us or bring us our drinks for 20 minutes. When we were eventually greeted (for the second time) by a waitress (who was NOT a bar waitress but rather had been pulled from the dining floor to wait on us) she took our drink orders again. It took another 10 minutes to recieve our cocktails...our dirty appitizer plate sat on our table for a WHILE.
Our waitress was clearly struggling to divide her time between ourselves and her dining room patrons (and I do not blame ANY of this poor service on her - her name was Christie I believe and she was courteous and polite and everything we could have asked for - this was clearly a management/kitchen issue).
My salad arrived 15 minutes before my husband's burger came to our table (even though we had specified that both were our "main course").
When we explained to the management our problems with the evenings dinner she was highly apologetic citing that there was "no excuse for bad service". After offering us desert (which we turned down, we had had enough of this place) we recieved our check which had been completely paid for. $0.00 amount. Thanks to this, we WILL be returning.
The food was excellent. The drinks were wonderful. The waitstaff was friendly. But the fact that we were greeted by a manager and then ignored for 20 minutes was pretty rediculous.
No Truth in these Ratings !.
CitySearch? Your Ratings are not Honest at all !!!
There are Five reviews her, and only one gives Ruth?s Chris Five Stars, the rest are two?s and three?s!
There are a total of 15 Stars for 5 reviews. 15 divided by 5 = a ??3-Star Rating? !!!!!
What Good is your system of Reviews if people cannot rely on their integrity?
Does not compare to other Ruth's Chris restaurants - below average.
I have to agree with the last few posters here - we also were excited when North Hills was getting a Ruth's Chris so we wouldn't have to drive as far to the Cary location - but we'll not go back.
This restaurant used to be JK's steak house which bombed - and RC came in and left it as it was and changed the name and menu to that of RC.
Service is not what you would expect from Ruth's Chris.
The food was wayyy below the par.
Price - hasn't changed :)
It was an OK dining experience but nothing near the level of quality, or WOW factor you get from other Ruth's Chris's.
One of the worst steak houses at one of the most highest prices.. Ruth Chris.....what's the big deal?? I can't figure out why people pay this much money for a place that serves a steak that doesn't have much flavor...I think they use prime meat which you can purchase at local butchers market. it's not dry aged or special kobe beef or anything. I can honestly say I can cook better steaks my self with sam's club beef. This was a total waste of money...the only thing good was the service. But I want a good steak too if I'm paying this much money. I will never return.
Not a "Wow".
Restaurant was small and very dark. Unimpressed. The steaks were good, not great, as they should have been for the price paid. Expect fantastic food when paying a premium price. Not worth the money. I like
to leave a restaurant with a "Wow" - not just "OK". I'll go elsewhere for premium steaks.
Not like other locations. We eat at Ruth's Chris often and have eaten at many different locations in a variety of states. I would have to say the food here was the worst of all the locations. Our waiter was wonderful though. The restuarant is much smaller than other locations and it was pretty dark. The decor was nice though. We prefer to drive to the one in Cary even though it is a longer drive. The food and atmosphere are much better!
