Best Fried Cod in N.C.. This is place has the best fried fish I have found in North Carolina. The London style of fries are not what I am used to but do grow on you and are tasty. Not a 4 star dining experience but GOOD food.
Best Fish & Chips in America. I've been in America for Years and never been able to find even half Decent Fish & Chips. Going to London fish and chips was like running up to the local Chippie back Home. The Fish was Hot & Delicious, The Chips were Excellent and I Don't know what people are going on about the Girls behind the counter, They were Very Polite & they made me Laugh. The service was Great! To all of those people who go out to Eat with the soul purpose of Complaining why don't you Just Stay home. I Give them 5 Stars and Can't wait to Eat there again....
Long Wait BAD FOOD. A friend told me a fish & chips place opened nearby and I thought great lets give it a try. The staff looked as if they had better things to do and the place was'nt that crowded. The food took forever to arrive and if you your with a bunch of kids you know how that could be. If I did'nt already pay I probably would have walked out. The fish was tasteless and a bit expensive for what they give you. The fries were just ok. There are other places to eat nearby and I wish I went to one of them instead. This place will not be seeing my business anytime soon.
TERRIBLE SERVICE and NASTY STAFF. Tried this place out for first time and was Very disappointed. I ordered a basic Fish & Chips dish and a beer which was luke warm. I sat there and drank the beer and waited for 30 minutes when I asked my wife How long have we been waiting here? I drank the beer from the can because the glasses they gave us were filthy. She went to check on the order and the girl said 2 minutes more. After 10 more minutes I asked for my money back because we had to go at this point. The kid making the dishes sucked his teeth and looked at me and the nasty girls behind the register gave me back my money, slammed the register and said "Have a nice day" (In a not so friendly tone) But hey.....at least they greet you on the way out. And by judging from some of the other reviews I'm glad I did'nt get a chance to try the tasteless, greasy fish. They have a sign stating that they add salt to every order. Don't waste your time or money on this place.
Excellent Batterd Fish and Chips.
Excellent Battered Fish & good Chips, I would recommend this to everyone! The Mushy Peas were slightly over salted but very good. The service could be better but the restaurant was clean and the tables were also clean.
I have not found a better Fish and Chips shop in NC and I doubt you will!
You have to give this a try!!!!!
Where's The Fish?!!. Hugely disappointed. Original owners delightful, that's not the problem. You don't get any fish with your fish & chips. I wouldn't mind the price if I could get more than a decent bite or two of fish from a large order!!! I just quit going. Note: the restaurant may have changed owners. The service deteriorated. I last went with a party of three. We were all served at least 6-7 minutes apart. When I finally got mine, the first of us was long since finished. The ice tea is outstanding as are the mushy peas, and the chips are pretty good. But paltry servings of cod defeat the whole purpose of going there. I would go there all the time if only I got my money's worth.
will be out of business soon, all oddities described in reviews evident Thursday night 04/24/08. The fish is what you would get @ 0300 in a London takeaway, I will give it that. Get fish elsewhere.
Unreliable Hours of Operation!.
OK ... hold on!! I just tried (unsuccessfully again!) last night (4/22) and although I called to check their phone message (I've learned from erratic business hours!) the sign still says "Closed For Spring Break". Based on what I have read, it looks like it said the same thing on April 9th. That's a mighty long Spring Break, unless you are a Year Round School Student - NOT a business owner! I've tried to eat here 5 times now ... I was successful ONCE! That one time, the food was very good - as you can probably tell since I've tried to go back. I even tried to send a message from their webpage to ask about their hours, but I've never gotten a response! I hate to say it, but this was it for me. My time, not to mention my gasoline, is worth more than their hit-and-miss service provides! I won't go out of my way again, and will share that opinion with anyone who asks.
If you are interested, the NY Pizza down the sidewalk makes a great pie! That's who's gotten my $$ when London Fish & Chips missed it!
London Fish and Chips - overrated!.
I really don't see what the big deal is about this place. We went here right after Greg Cox reviewed it and it was closed. When I emailed Greg, he said the owner had been experiening some personal problems.
Subsequently, I did manage to get here when it was open and got take out. Long lines, long wait. Of the items I ordered, one of them was the wrong thing.... I was not impressed with the price and I didn't think the
food was anything better than any other place that fries fish. Even if it was a bargain and great, I don't think I would be a frequent diner here for health concerns about eating that much fried food.
Erratic hours-VERY disapointing !!. I just called to see if they were open for lunch (Fri 04.18.08 1230pm) and was told they were not by Russ the owner. He said they'd be open on Monday ! What is going on with this place??!! Is he TRYING to close down or what?! My wife and I live 1 mile away and "did" frequent it on a very regular basis. We haven't been back there in quite a while due to the erratic hours of operation. Too bad this place can't get it together-great food POOR service and hours. Bummer-I guess we'll have to settle for a chain restuarant.
