Father's Day @ Yancy's.
Yes, Yancy's located on Rock Quarry Road, beside the Family Dollar store. While waiting to be seated, we were ignored by the hostess who was never in place to greet any of the patronages. Finally seated at a table/booth, the table had water marks, and the booth had crumbs left on the seat. The waitress never offered bread rolls or perhaps we were supposed to ask for rolls??? It was "buffet hour" and the food was mediocre in taste and quality; it was cold, the cabbage tasted old, I dare not taste the collard greens. The best things I had were the potato salad, iced tea and a garden salad. With such poor service, it amazes me how any retail establishment survives. I was not impressed at all and I will never go to that cafe again. Perhaps everyone needs to be retrained on customer service. Next time I'll spend my day at K&W, K&S were the old folks like to eat and the waitress are a lot more friendlier!
Regret the Evening Spent.
Enjoyed the band playing for the evening
Food was not so good. Smelled like old food.
Our friends has the buffet and they had nothing good to say as well.
Might go back just for drinks and music
Best evening of my life. My boyfriend brought me to Yancy's for our first date. We paid a cover charge to enter since there was a band performing. We shared an order of Jazzy wings and cajun fries. When we decided to order our dinner it took a little longer to get our food because a large party had just placed their order. The rest of our evening was wonderful. I look forward to having girls night out there!
Dine at Yancy's at your evenings peril. Upon arrival the music stopped and took a break from 8-10pm. Our server was incompetent and the food took over an hour. Underdone spicey chicken wings without spice was one of my choices. Others enjoyed some of their meals. One in our party ordered a side order of greens which arrived two hours later as we were begging for our bill. It took us 45 minutes to pay the bill. The prices on the menu didn't match the bill so watch out so as not to overpay. The unsympathetic management did not offer and help and was annoyed by our requests to fix the bills. Every table in our section had multiple complaints. Our birthday celebration was ruined. I would suggest you find someplace else to go but I'm sure by the time you read this they will be well on their way out of business. The sound system sounded nice for the few minutes they did play. Avoid this place at all costs if you enjoy service and a good dining experience.
Yancy's is tacky to say the least. My girl friend and I went to Yancy's tonight( against my better judgment based on the poor service that my boyfriend and I received on my last visit.) we both ordered an entre. After dinner she had coffee and cake I had a drink. Shortly there after our waiter came over and asked if were going to stay and listen to the band and if so we had to pay five dollars each. What! You must be kidding me. I have just spent my money on food and drink, ready to stay and drink more and listen to music and you come over and ask me for five dollars. I wonder if owner Mr. Java has any other restaurants (that's right Yancy is just the chef) and if so does he practice the same tacky behavior?
This NEW yancys (2010) at Rock query road is a real good one.
This new yancys restaurant next to Family dollar (Farmington Square Shopping Center off Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh) is simply the best.
YANCY’S! will offer elegant VIP banquet event rooms that will seat up to 100 people. The banquet and event rooms will feature four flat screen TVs, dimmable lighting and isolation from the dinning room and stage, ideal for presentations, conferences & corporate luncheons.
The NEW restaurant is located only a few minutes from I-40 – exit 300 and near the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek.
Please IGNORE the OLD reviews im City search as that belong to failed yancys restaurant that was CLOSED in downtown raleigh in 2008. I request Citysearch to remove OLD bad reviews (not applicable) and help the new restaurant management and team. They deserve your support.
No complaints in the new place. It simply ROCKS at night,
this place should be shut down-- everything about it is awful. this place should just shut down.... i have a friend who knew else someone who worked there, and the place is in complete shambles. they have serious financial issues, and cannot even afford to order food from sysco or us foodservice, for the lunch or dinner shifts. everything in the kitchen is completely half-assed and thrown together with little ingredients they have. they have burned bridges with their linen service, beer and food vendors, AND employees have not recently been able to go cash their paychecks on payday!! its CRAZY!!! do not eat at this place.... or give them your business. they are a bunch of liars who dont know how the hell to run a restaurant.
Horrible service, Great Music. My husband and I took our grandmother there for a night out and to listen to some live music. The restaurant is very nice, the decor is modern, the live music is awesome, however when we ordered our drinks the server came back twice to tell us that the bar was out of the ingrediants for the two different drinks we ordered. We ordered the crab dip w/pita points which took 20 minutes to come out and when it did the bread was extremely dry and cold. The server said he would bring us fresh pita points, it took another 15 minutes and we finally said we would forego the appetizer. The server never asked us to refill our drinks, and when our entrees came out, my fries w/the po boy sandwich were cold. they sent my husband the wrong side w/his entree and my grandmother's rice was undercooked and hard! Overall, I would have to say that this was the worst dining experience we have ever experienced. This place is great for ambiance, drinks at the bar and great live music but stay away from dining in!!!
They have excellent taste in live music - Zydecopious!!.
Saw one of the best bands there about a month ago - Zydecopious. Fun zydeco music and everything they played made you want to get out of your seat and dance!! They even made the food taste better! Nice place and nice folks. Hope they keep up the live music. Otherwise, the place feels a bit stuffy - like you're the only one who doesn't know everyone else.
I see the band's coming back for Mardi Gras. I can hardly wait until 2/17!! I'll be the one dancing! - that is, ONE of the ones!!
Pretty place, lousy service and even worse dinner.. I was pretty excited when I walked into the place. Obviously, a lot of money was thrown into it because it is a good looking place. The bar is beautiful and the huge TVs are great. Unfortunately, I do not think the same attention to detail was used in developing their entrees. We had the crab cakes as a starter which were barely warm and tasted like they came out of a gordon's fisherman box. I had the jambalya for my main entree and I think they make it from a zataran's packet because it was about as bland and as boring as could be. My friend ended up having a pulled pork sandwich. She said it was good, not great and the thing was super soggy. We ended up skipping dessert. Overall, this place woul be a good place to get a drink I think, but for dinner, I would skip it. It just wasn't very good. Oh and the service! The service was just weird. Our waiter went missing everytime our glasses were empty and seemed to be on something. Everytime we asked for another round he seemed to space out and forget for about 15 minutes, wandered around looking lost. It was just weird.
