In Short – Not surprisingly, the oyster bar takes center stage at this laid-back, family-friendly hot spot. Pull up a chair and order some raw or steamed oysters, shucked right in front of you and served on the half-shell. If you're not in the mood for oysters, you'll find other options, from local Southern cuisine to bistro dishes. For entertainment, there are a dozen plasma TVs and a game room stocked with arcade games and air hockey.

Who should drink more, patron or owner?

by carter13 at Citysearch

i began going to Hudson's about 6 months ago. I'm reserved and quiet ,so i tend to observe my environment. At first it was pleasing: bar service no complaints, the girls are hot and friendly, the food was but a bit pricey for the quality. Just like a bi- polar person, this place went from one extreme to the next. As i continued to dine at Hudson's i noticed a severe change in the staff's attitudes. Not toward the customers but rather the establishment itself and the owners. just recently i witnessed the owner or a owner get completely bombed at his bar and treat both female bartenders with such disrespect . i felt completely uncomfortable and sorry for the poor girls. The owner was screaming for his drinks and being belligerent, thats when i left because i was about to give this northerner a good old fashion southern butt whooping!!!!'

  • Pros: Eye Candy
  • Cons: not enough nose candy sold at the bar!

The last time I will go to Hudson's

by dmwrigh3 at Citysearch

Wow, I dont really know where to start. We ate dinner there on Wednesday with 2 friends and sat at the oyster bar. Neither server was friendly at all, it was like we were a burden on them for eating at their restaurant. I ordered the oysters which were half price from 4-7. Well now I know why they are half price, because the flavor was horrible. They were some of the worst oysters I have ever had. My wife had one of the seafood platters and she thought it was good, but nothing over the top.

I was really dissappointed in the overall service and quality of the food. They try to sell this place as an upper end restaurant, but it is nothing more than a hole in the wall. I would reccommend staying away.

  • Pros: They have nice TV's.
  • Cons: Service, food, atmosphere

Great Date.....Good Food

by lkn7427 at Citysearch

We went this past monday night....there was only about 10 other people there, if that.....It was 50 cents oyster night...so we enjoyed that.....There was only 1 server behind the oyster bar...so service was a little on the slow side....but he apologized for it repeatedly...and he was funny....and we didn't really mind....it gave us more time to watch the game that was on and enjoy the few date nights we actually get being so busy.....The oysters were good....it's not really 'in season' so they weren't gigantic, but i don't like it too big anyway....My husband had the fried seafood platter...the breading was a little bland, but there were two sauces to pick from....and it was a good bit of food too....I had the seafood newberg pasta.....very good....i get scared to order pasta out because it always ends up bland, but this was filled with flavor......oh, and from reading all the bad reviews....i was a little nervous using the gift certificate i bought from zspotlight for 1/2 price....but when i presented it....it was no problem.....our bill was $55.....we had 2 dozen oysters, a house salad, 2 entrees previously mentioned, a soda and a sweet tea.....All that for $55?? It was wonderful....Only the difference of $15 was charged to our card after the $40 certificate...and we tipped our server cash.......It's not a high class five star restaurant with 'stepford wives' type servers.....but its a good intimate date spot for seafood lovers......

  • Pros: 50 cent oysters!!
  • Cons: ambience is a little drab/depressing....
