Ok look, some of these posts are just stupid. I'm used to chinese/asian places slandering each other online, but cmon. It's not true, this place is really pretty good especially if you like sushi. Is it the very finest, well no. But for the $13 it's a *great deal*. For the price of a couple of rolls (at best) somewhere else I get to *gorge* on sushi. I live practically across the street from this place and I have always had good experiences. If you want the best sushi go spend a bunch of money, but dollar for dollar this place is great.
I'm a 24 year-old college student who works for a living. During my final exam week in May, I ate at this place for Dinner. Then I woke up 3 am then I ran to the bathroom and vomitted for hours. 3 hours later, I was hospitalized. I was treated for 5 hours. The doctor examined that I had a Stomach Virus due to Food-Borne Poisoning. I missed 3 days of work. I was on a Liquid Diet for a week. I have passed on my Medical Documentation and the medical bills to the Restaurant's owner. She said she will file a insurance claim on my case and It's been a month now I haven't received a single phone call from the Owner or their Insurance company. Now I have $3300 medical bill in the middle of my school years. I'll be sure to file a claim through the Wake County Health Department.
I must say that for an Asian buffet restaurant Grand Asia Buffet is a pleasant step above the local competition. Not only is the food excellent, especially the fresh sushi, but the service is undoubtedly the best in Raleigh for a restaurant of its kind.
Like I always do when writing a review of a restaurant, I read the comments that have already been left. Upon reading these comments, and knowing that there is much competition, I came to the conclusion that many of the negative comments must have been left by their inferior competitors. Allowing for personal differences of opinion, there simply is no way that his place deserves either a 1-star or 2-star rating. Although I find it disgusting that competitors need to resort to such low-handed tactics in an attempt to boost their own business, at the same time I also understand that they're not going to boost it with either their food quality or service.
When considering ANY restaurant, my suggestion would be to ignore ANY single review, including this one, and to look at the AVERAGE review. It probably reflects the truth more accurately.
Grand Asia Buffet.
For several years I have eaten lunch here everyday (except for the occasional lunch meetings at work). It has become my main meal of the day.It is not the closest to my place of work but the extra 5 minute drive is well worth it. The selection is vast so I can get healthy vegetables and seafood followed by sushi (I love the salmon) and fruit. Always fresh and healthy.
I feel like the staff are my friends. When the occasion allows I will bring associates to join me for lunch as do many others that I see eating there repeatedly.
Some departments at work come here to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions.
Needless to say I give the Grand Asia Buffet two thumbs up!
Grand Asia Buffet.
Almost three years ago, I was looking for a new restaurant where I could visit at least once a week. Luckily I found the Grand Asia Buffet. Their sushi bar is spectacular and the other Asian cuisines are awesome. The staff (waitresses, waiters, managers, and food preparers) do an excellent job and are always kind and courteous. I read some of the other reviews and I was deeply disturbed. There is no way anyone could have visited the Grand Asia and had that type of negative experience. This represents a lack of integrity for those reviewers and a misuse of this forum.
I visited the Grand Asia last night. I had called ahead to place an order for Chicken Wings (to go) and I also overloaded a to-go box with sushi. As I was loading my sushi box, the sushi artist directly asked me if there was anything he could prepare for my to go order. I was impressed. And I witness this establishment offer the same service to all the patrons every week.
If you want authentic Asia cuisine, sushi, and a reasonable price, visit the Grand Asia Buffet on Six Forks Road in Raleigh. I will be there on Friday!!!

Ok. first of all i'm not gonna impersonate or be someone who i'm not. My name is Yao Li brother of Yun Li my sister who own's Grand Asia. Ok There are many reviews that can be understandable but when you go overboard as the user Cled. It really got me infuriated. Sir. Cled i'm not sure if your a real customer or just another competitor who just wants to give a comment that is totally unacceptable. If something like that really happen to you please next time either go to the hospital get yourself check out before you blame it on anybody. And if it were true you definitely need to report to the health department or the states sanitation department. You don't have to worried about the medical bills they have insurance. My sister and I have been in restaurant business under our parents for like 10-15 years. We know whats like and how clean we need to bring it more presentable and make it a safe environment. If you want to check my back ground your welcome to google chinatown kitchen in sheboygan,wi we've been here for over 18 years now and yes still in business. I've help and worked at my sister's place for over a month. I've seen the staff they worked as hard as they can to keep the place clean and the food fresh. Especially my brother in-law who really is an entrepreneur. He gets up 8-9 am in the morning to prep the restaurant and stays late at night to finish up most of the clean up. Tell me should people that worked hard get ruined up by your unacceptable words
and last of all. I rated 3 stars to even it up. because i really didn't want to write this review.
Another note due to many job losses and the recession. price of products do go up. thats why i might hear some items on the buffet table might be old but you can always request to have them make new ones you don't have to wait till they bring it out. Things aren't free guys. i'm sure all business owners out there will try to conserve a little if they have to.
I'm gonna say sorry to the people out there that have to read my painful long story but i feel it needs to be done.

Threw up in the bathroom, got full REALLY fast.
Extremely disappointed. I ate the sushi and general tso's chicken and a little bit of rice.
The buffet is overpriced for food that tastes like it's been heated up a couple times. Also, like many asian restaurants, I was full after a couple bites, and an hour later I was starving. They must have a lot of MSG in their food.
As soon as I finished my meal, I ran to the bathroom and immediately threw up in a stall. I'm not sure if it was food poisoning, but it happened as soon as I was done.
The rest of the day I threw up a couple more times and had to use the bathroom continuously.
I would NOT recommend going here, they have horrible health and sanitation issues, and have even been closed prior for low health scores.
My family's favourite. My family come to this restaurant all the time. Their Sushi is the best: many choices and very fresh. My kids also like their big selection of Chinese food, and Dim Sum.
Definitely will not go again.
Hubby and I just moved to the area and have been looking for a great Asian buffet that serves sushi. We thought this could be the place. We were even excited as we walked up to the door. Our excitement soon faded.
The place looked dirty, had a strange smell, and the staff acted a little surprised, but not all that enthused, that we were there.
After a walk around the steam tables and sushi display, I really had to fight the urge to walk out. Why on earth would they line their pans with plastic wrap and put food on top of that?? Afraid of washing a pan?? Were they planning on saving the leftovers for tomorrow??
Still willing to give them a chance I took small samples of what looked to be the freshest. I wasn't taking any chances with the raw sushi (which I normally like). I know I had an "ew" face the whole time I was there. The food was not fresh, not hot, and was not appealing at all.
Very overpriced. Would not recommend. Thanking my lucky stars I didn't get sick.
Don't waste your money!.
I wish there was an option for 0 stars. There is nothing Grand about this place. The rating was 91.5 when we walked in. My husband and 15 month old daughter arrived around dinner time and assumed the food would be fresh & hot. That was NOT the case. I took a bite of pepper steak and it was cold. The other items were warm at best.
They had plenty of sushi out but I am pregnant so I did not eat the sushi. My husband had some sushi and said it was fine.
The dessert featured cookies or orange jello. I was shocked to get the bill showing almost $30 for two buffets and two soft drinks. For that price, we could have went to a nice restaurant.
This food on the buffet was simply horrible. The chicken selection was old and chewy. I hope this place closes so one one else waste their hard earned money to eat here.
