Best wings and wing deal in town – We love these guys. We've tried the chicken pharm wrap, it's delicious. Had a burger or two. They were delicious. Now our family is on to the wings. Honey BBQ and Mild. Both perfectly cooked and prepared. Now for the bad news...... It's not the fastest place in town. If you give yourself an hour or so for lunch and you will be just fine. The staff was friendly and efficient and my order was correct and on time (40 wings to go, called in in 15 minutes) Give them a shot, remember the wait ,and have a good time.
I don't highly recommend. – I've been here a few times and have finally given up. I didn't have any problem with the waitstaff or the atmosphere. For me, it was the taste of the food. It reminded me of frozen food that got heated up and that I paid way too much for. I dine out quite frequently and the location of this place is great. Unfortunately for them, however, next time I get the taste for a frozen entree, I'll stick to the grocery store!
Horrible Service, Waitstaff and Food – My husband and I went to Sunset Grille for the first time for lunch on a Sunday. Walked in and the hostess could care less where to sit us, waitress could have care less to wait on us and staff that past by your table stuck their noses up in the air (no hello's or smiles!). Waitress took her time getting our sodas, then when we ordered she didn't bother to ask if we wanted salsa or ranch with our chips, we had grab her as she was rushing off. When our wraps and chips arrived, they tasted horrible and pre-made chips were stale. The waitress never even checked up on us during lunch and never refilled our sodas. She obviously didn't even want to be there. We paid the check without even a "thank you" or "come again". Then, when we were leaving, the hostess, of course, didn't even bother thanking us or saying goodbye. Needless to say, we will never go there again.
Cold Food, Nasty manager – Our food came and everyones french fries were cold. The waiter went and got the manager. The manager made us sick! He asked to take some off my plate, which he did and then had the nerve to say"You think these are cold or just not hot enough for you"! If i'm paying for food I want it hot and it should not be the manager decision if it is or not. The waiter brought 1 plate of fries for all of us. Needless to say his tip reflected his bad judgement. I have eaten here before and never had a problem. I am really turned off by a manager who is so rude. I guess they don't need the return business. I am learning that customer service in food places is becoming worse instead of better. It used to be the customer came first. I have been a waitress in the past and if anyone acted like the manager or wait staff they would be fired on the spot.
Substandard Food and a Complete Lack of Food Knowledge – My husband, daughter & I went to Sunset Grille for lunch today. We have been a few times and each was a disappointing event. We kept giving them another try, because it is very convenient to our home and we figured that since they were new, they just needed to 'work out the kinks.' After today, my husband & I unanimously agreed that we will never go there again.
On our first visit, I got the portobello mushroom sandwich and my husband got a burger. My husband is not really a "foodie" and he is generally happy with whatever is put in front of him. (Thankfully, because I am not a great cook.) They say that they can only cook their burgers medium-well and well. (To me, this indicates a lazy cook. Burgers can be cooked medium! The health safety rules are dependent upon interior temperature of the burger, not the color.) In any case, my husband could not even finish it because it was so burnt. It was supposedly cooked medium-well. My portobello sandwich was not great, and to top it all off it was supposed to come with a balsamic vinaigrette. The sandwich was dry, so I asked for them to bring me some on the side. The server brought me straight balsamic vinegar. When I told her that she had mistakenly brought me vinegar, not vinaigrette, the server turned rude and insisted that it was vinaigrette.
On our visit today, I mistakenly ordered the rare tuna salad, and I specified that the tuna be cooked medium-rare. (I really should have known better after the burger incident that they really have no idea how to prepare food, but the menu made it sound so good!) Anyway, when it arrived it was the strangest looking tuna 'steak' (and I use that term VERY loosely here) that I have ever seen. It was obviously not fresh. Tuna is supposed to be a beautiful pale red color- it was BROWN and chewy- yuck!! I gave the tuna to the server and asked her to take it off our bill and I would just eat the salad. She later informed me that they would not take it off the bill.
Good place to drink, avoid the food – I've eaten at Sunset Grille in Cary twice and I have a mixed opinion. They have good margaritas and a fairly large bar, so I can recommend this as a drinking spot. The food however is not up to my standards. Burgers are OK, but honestly it is a little expensive for what it is. My husband had a burger and felt like he could have had a tastier (and much less expensive) burger at Char-Grill. The fries were soggy, not crispy, and tasted a little stale. I ordered the Sunset Pasta which includes chicken, shrimp and an assortment of vegetables in a slightly spice marinara sauce over bow-tie pasta. Normally I'd stay away from seafood at a bar, but in this case it was marked as one of their house specialties so I thought it would be good. I tried some of the pasta and chicken first, and immediately noticed that they tasted like shrimp which struck me as odd. I cut open some of the shrimp (there were only about 4 shrimp in the entire dish) and noticed they were not opaque inside. They looked undercooked. We called the server over, who said he would take the dish back to the chef and get his opinion on the matter. The chef just re-cooked the same dish and he brought it back out to us. Naturally at this point I was too paranoid to eat it and we had it taken off the bill. Another thing that bothers me about this place is their admitted problems with the sewage system. On my first visit here there was a strong smell coming from the bathrooms, and our server did admit they had some sewage issues they were working through which began shortly after they opened. I felt bad for them and can understand a new restaurant will have issues. Now several months later, the restaurant still carries that lingering smell, so this time we sat outside. If they can take care of the sewage issue for good, I might come here to drink, but I can't recommend the food.
