Illinois-based drugstore chain serves neighborhoods with fully stocked stores and modern amenities.. In Short
Founded in 1901 in Chicago by Charles R. Walgreen Sr., this neighborhood pharmacy has grown to be one of the nation's largest drugstore chains. Each store carries 25,000 different items--from cleaning products to electronics and greeting cards. Store features include a computerized system connecting pharmacies nationwide via satellite, grocery-store food aisles, one-hour photofinishing and an automated phone system for prescription refills and pre-arranged pickup times. Other services include in-store flu shots and childhood immunizations.

Avoid this pharmacy at all cost, service is exceptionally poor. I have been using this pharmacy for over a year because it is close to my work. They consistently take longer than they say to fill refill my prescriptions. If I tell them that I will wait and they say 15 minutes, however, almost every time it takes them 25 to 35 minutes. I have given them an hour to refill the prescription and invariably when I return it will not be ready, even when I return two hours later; I even returned once after four hours and they still had me wait. I have reported this to the manager to no avail, and yet I continued to use the pharmacy. One employee even walked out on them after I complained to the manager. Yesterday I left a prescription to be refilled saying that I would return this morning to pick it up; when I returned this morning at 11:00 am they didn't even know that I had left the prescription to be refilled or what it was that I needed. Again they told me that it would be just a few minutes to which I replied "Forget it. I will transfer my prescriptions to another pharmacy." This is a good example of exceptionally poor management. Maybe they have too many customers but that won't be a problem for long.
