Raleigh >Olive Green
Good food, definitely...
I have gone to almost all the Indian/Pak restaurants int he area and I dont think much of any one of them for the food. I ran into Olive Green at the International Festival this year and I got some food from there. The owners ran the stall and seemed very courteous. The food was great!
I have gone back to their restaurant a couple of times since, both times were pick-up, and their food did not disappoint at all. The prices are also very reasonable...The same food that I bought for $8 here, at a place like Royal India, for instance, costs $15.99 ..Granted, there is not much place or ambience at Olive Green for a sit-down, but I think whatever they save there in not having tables+chairs or bus-boys and fancy dishes, trickles down in the price of the food.
A great place for take-out. They definitely know how to cook :), and they seem to be great people as well
Fresh Stuffed Naans , Samosas , Butter Chicken,Paneer Korma.
I love the Kebab's & Naan's at this place they are the BEST and Samosas with their special chutney . They recently delivered lunch boxes to my office , I tried the Vegetarian and loved it . The food is authentic and have a good spicy flavor.
Looks like the new management is going a good job
Pass on this one. I ate at this restaurant the other day and, while it's better than it was under the previous ownership, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The food seems like it would be good if it was fresh, but it definitely wasn't. No one really speaks to you and I had to wait quite awhile to get some fresh naan. There are better indian restaurants in the area that are worth the time.
Avoid at all costs -- especially for catering.
King Kabob was bad....then the owners changed, and the restaurant was still bad, but the catering was really good. To be completely candid, the food is really good. However, these guys are conducting business in such a shady way that it's not worth the time and frustration.
They make up conditions and say it's part of the contract -- which is a joke and amended as they see fit to suit their mistakes and their needs over those of the customer. They'll agree upon a menu and price (in writing) and then call you and try to say "oops..i never should have agreed to such a low rate." They're hoping you'll pay them more. Thy'll stick to the original contract, but only when forced.
When I hired them for a catering job, they showed up late, without all of the food (though what was there tasted good) and did so without as much as an apology. They expected me to accept that they work on their own timings. When we started calling them, they wouldn;t answer our calls (when they were already late). As with many caterers, they counted the number of people at the party-- no problem at all -- assuming they do it accurately. I had fewer than the number expected and therefore, told them to leave the food behind - after all, I paid for all of it. They counted wrong (and trust me..i know how many people were there) and then refused to leave anything until i pushed them again.
By the way, they'll give you a better rate if you pay 100% in cash..hmm..and pay them everything up front.
To top things off, people have heard our story. When they're asked about it, they produce a contract (not the one that we signed) -- a contract that puts them in a good light.
If you want good food with a ton of hassle - go to them. If you want to be able to enjoy your function, they should not be your choice. If you really love their food, have them cook it, but pick it up yourself and don't count on them for any service or a thank you for your business.
CLOSED and replaced with a new and better restaurant..
King Kabob was an un inviting hole in the wall.
