Worst Anniversary Dinner.
My husband and I went to this location on New Year's Eve 2010 to celebrate our anniversary that was coming up that week. We were so excited that they had call-ahead seating. When we got there, we got seated right away and our order was taken. We waited a little while for a waitress, which we didn't mind since we had been seated so quickly. By the time our waitress came to take our order we had already decided what we wanted to eat. After ordering, we waited forever to get our drinks and bread. The wait seemed to be a little excessive even though they were busy and we expected the dining experience to take a little longer than if they were only half full.
After a very long wait, we received our salads. When our salads were almost gone, the waitress came to tell us that they were out of sweet potatoes. I was very upset because I was looking forward to having a steak and sweet potato. As a mother of 3 children (with 5 of us), we cannot afford to go out to eat often, so coupled with this being a special occasion, I knew it would be a long time before I would get to go out for a steak and sweet potato again. As I write this on September 27, 2011, this is nearly 9 months later, and we are finally going out for another steak dinner for the first time since New Year's Eve. I decided to search CitySearch to look at reviews so we won't have a repeat bad experience.
After ordering a different side, and remember our salads were almost gone, we waited a long time to get our meals, maybe another 20-30 minutes. We had also asked to speak with a manager because we were inconvenienced by their poor planning and not having enough sweet potatoes. About 5 minutes before the meal came out, we wrangled a manager as she was walking by because it appeared that the waitress had not went to get a manager for us. We explained our situation to the manager, and also included that we had seen sweet potatoes being delivered to other patrons across the restaurant while other patrons were told the restaurant was out of other items. The manager seemed to be listening to what we had to say. My husband asked if they could give us a free drink or something for our trouble, but she quickly stated that she could not give away alcohol but would be glad to give us a free dessert sample and walked away without any response from us.
My husband and I are not big dessert eaters at all. Most desserts are too sweet for our taste, so that was not an acceptable solution for us. We figured we would tell the waitress when she came to ask if we were ready for the dessert. But alas, halfway through eating our meal, the waitress came and set the dessert sample in the middle of our table and walked away.
We both sat there and stared at it. Once we finished eating our meals, the waitress took away our plates. After a while with us staring at the desserts, and me getting more upset, she finally came back and asked us if there was a problem. That was when my husband explained that we are not big dessert eaters and had not agreed that was an acceptable offering for our inconvenience. She said we should have told the manager and we told her that we didn't get the chance because she said she would give us that item free and walked away.
Long story short, they ended up giving us our meals free, and we vowed never to return to this location again.
Terrible service. Waited over an hour for a table and then our whole party didn't even get to sit together. We couldn't even see the rest of our party from where we were sitting. Hostesses were rude and seemed much more concerned with gossiping amongst themselves. Once we were seated, and I kid u not, we had to wait another 10 minutes just for someone to take our drink order. Considering we had to wait almost 2 hours for our food, it was not good at all. Don't eat here unless u plan on waiting FOREVER! And I do mean forever.
Great steak! Reasonable prices.. Every time I've eaten here, I have come away satisfied. Sometimes the kitchen may not get things right the first time (very rarely) but that's understandable given how picky people can be about their steaks (especially me!) But the staff is always genuinely concerned that I'm happy with my meal and they always go out of their way to make things right. How refreshing to go to a casual restaurant such as this and have the manager actually personally visit your table - unlike other places which just take items off of your bill and never make the effort to apologize. You get a great value here - especially when considering the portions you get and the quality of steaks.
Terrible steak, terrible cooks. I ate here with some family members because we had a gift certificate. Some gift it turned out to be. The place looks nice inside, cute western style decorations on the walls and even some fake rafters in the ceiling. It was fairly crowded, which is surprising given the quality of the food. We all ordered steaks, two of us got sirloins which we asked for medium both came out well-done. I sent it back, the server was very apologetic and the manager also came by to apologize. They sent out new steaks that were actually a little undercooked this time but I was not going to send it back again. The meat was bland, and not very tender even though it was medium-rare. I tried someone else's filet, and it didn't taste any different. The only good things we ate was the bread and our free dessert. The manager at least did appear to be genuinely concerned, but this restaurant really needs better cuts of meat and some cooks who know what they are doing. At $18- $20 for a filet, I'd rather pay an extra $5- $10 and go to a real restaurant.
