Good food, terrible service.
My husband and I were so excited to try Saffron for the first time this past weekend, but were very disappointed in the service! The hostess was very friendly, but the wait staff looked completely miserable to be at work. It took 15 minutes for our waiter to bring us a glass of wine (not sure why since there were only 2-3 other couples in the restaurant) and we had to ask three times just to get a side of yogurt/cucumber sauce.
All negatives aside, the food was great. I loved the Chicken Korma and my husband raved about the Chicken Vindaloo. Unfortunately, I just don't think it is enough to get us to go back a second time. Maybe take-put from now on?
another dissapointment.
Just came from Saffron. I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants around the country and so many great experiences. Saffron however is a restaurant am not planning to return to for the following reasons:
1. Great food but very poor service. The only person that had great customer service was the hostess.
2. They added gratuity on our bill while we had not met the 6 person requirement. Would have tipped more than 18% but oh well.
But then again am black and they probably thought I would not tip them!
complete disappointment.
It is rare that I write a review the moment I get back from a night out, but this experience required such. We went to saffron with high expectations given other reviewer comments. They could not have been more wrong. We sat for a good 10 minutes before our order was taken. Then when our food did come - quite a while later - it have obviously been completed and left to sit on a counter somewhere. My korma had formed a skin over the sauce - like gravy does when it's let sit after cooking. My husbands dish was cold. The length of time it took to get our food was tolerable when we thought it was being cooked. With it so very obviously left sitting someplace after it was done - and we were waiting on it - wow - annoyed just doesn't cover it.
Then we had the food itself. I had ordered mine mild. I prefer spicy, but my daughter wanted to try some and she can't tolerate anything but mild. It was NOT mild by any description. My husband had ordered his dish spicy and.... yep... it wasn't. It was NOT a complicated order.
Then there was the order of bread that was not delivered with the meal... that we asked for... again... and again.... and again...... didn't come until we were getting ready to leave. sigh.
I can't understand the horrible service as there were plenty of wait staff. I love Indian food - but I won't be back to saffron. There are other Indian places in this area that are much better and less impacting on ones blood pressure . I can honestly say that I was beyond disappointed - with the service - with the food - just with everything.
We won't be back.
Great food!. Ate here the other day with friends. They had been after us to try it, thought we would enjoy it. They were spot on! Food was great, not the same ol' stuff that most Indian rest. have. The chef puts his touch on everything. Take you time and enjoy the food and save room for desert!
Terrible !!!.
This place used to be good. Now I would not feed their food to my dog.
Bad all around, food, service, price.
I complained last time I went and they really didn't care.

Don't go.
Wonderful. I'm here on holiday from Birmingham uk the capital of curries in uk when my family told that saffron is the best in the triangle area I told them no it can't beat the curries I have had so we decided to go there when I arrived I was amazed by the restaurant It is beautifully designed. We sat and ordered our meal. We had ordered our appetizers which where kadak reshmi kebab, tandoori paneer and veg samosa it had arrived on our table I immediately went for the kebab and was pleasantly surprised by the texture and the mix herbs and spices it was delightful as was the paneer and samosa's our entrees where lamb rogan Josh, kadak chicken, chicken korma and lamb vindaloo our bread order was 2 tawa rotis 2 tandoori rotis and a garlic naan. Again I was amazed by the dishes lamb was cooked perfectly a beautiful soft texture with a spicy sauce and the chicken dishes were excellent I will defiantly come back before I leave and I recommend this restaurant to anyone coming here from the uk. Outstanding cuisine excellent service and a beautiful place. Thank you saffron for a wonderful night.
omg what a restaurant. I went to saffron of morrisville today for the first time and it was outstanding. The service was remarkable and the cuisine is to die for...and what a beautiful restaurant. It is warm and welcoming. I will recommend to friends and family to go and try. the manager was so polite he guided me through the menu and recommended some dishes I was amazed by everything this is 5star in my book thank you so much for a wonderful experience
Horrible experience. This place is disgusting with very rude staff; first of all there was a huge stain on the table cover which the staff changed after 3 reminders; then the food service was very slow and when we called the manager he was himself very rude and said that there was no delay. The staff was ignoring us and overall it was a pathetic service. This is not a cheap restaurant and at that cost you would expect much more.. recommendation... DO NOT go to this place! They spoilt a perfect evening.
Saffron, Very disgusting.
This is a place to be wary of. My friend and I had appetizers there a couple of weeks ago. They burnt the vegetable cakes and turned them over to hide the burn. The raita they served with the papad tasted off, as in bad.
it had a fishy taste to it. I had to ask what it was as it didn't taste like raita I've had in the past.
We both lost our appetite when we saw the staff eating out of a common bowl with their hands that was at the door
We couldn't finish our appetizers because they were prepared so badly.
Needless to say, we came down with food poisoning the next day, E.coli. We have been suffering the last couple of weeks with it. I don't recommend this place at all.
Horrrible customer service!. First of all, I would have never gone to this place if it wasn't for the Restaurant.c0m coupon I had bought a month ago...We live in Durham and have tons of food options near us so this was something we NEVER do...They would have gotten 2 first time customers who could have been there many other times as we love Indian food. The whole idea behind this coupon is to bring in new customers and if we liked it, we would have returned and recommended it to friends, etc etc... Well, they had a sign at the door that they did not accept restaurant.c0m coupons...Never seen this before...Doesn't the restaurant agree to do this with the website before they can sell those? Second, it was 5:02 pm and the lights were dark...One guy came from the back of the place after us being there 5 minutes to tell us they're not open yet! I asked what time they're open, he says 5, I look at my watch and say, it's 5:07? He responds with, "no we're not open, another 10 minutes". I said forget this place! Never going back again and will deter any friends from going there. They lose out too as I had used my other recent Restaurant.c0m $25 coupon to go out for my birthday with a group of 14 last time with the bill being over $200...And none of the people I brought had been to that place so they just gained all new first time customers! Sorry Saffron, but you have no idea what it takes to maintain a successful business!
