I have been in Raleigh for 8 years, switching hair stylists often. My girlfriend recommended Samina, and off I went a year ago. Samina is extremely talented- about brilliant when it comes to figuring out with me the *right* color for my hair and cut. With thin hair, and blonde at at that, I have had a difficult time finding someone who would not go off on their own to do what they just thought was best. In fact, my first visit Samina studied my hair for a few minutes concentrating on how she could bring it back from the condition another hair stylist had caused. I was beyond frustration with my hair before I got there, and by the end of the color/cut was so relieved that I loved the color/cut and felt like I looked like a professional again. What impressed me the most was Samina's professionalism, quick-witted personality, and ability to make me feel like she had known me for years on my very first visit. I have been back over the last year more than a few times. She and her staff are always welcoming, and all-around "good people". From the look around the salon, I have seen a lot of great styles and colors leave the salon. And, the brides that have been there have seemed so excited and thrilled with their updos, etc.. In fact, I was just joking to Samina about doing mine when I get there. Good luck! I am sure you will be happy here.

eSTee Salon Admin response (5/30/2009). Please forgive us for a lengthy response to a review by xyzbride. The first response was posted by Samina on 5/27/09 (please see below). Apparently, the bride does not seem to agree to Samina's response as she has posted a counter review (please see under review) that states -- "You are a LIAR Samina". Therefore, eSTee Salon is compelled to state certain facts. This will be our last response as we do not wish to engage in a shouting-match. The first sentence that the bride has posted is that "I hired Samina and her assistant to do my wedding hair." Samina does not have an assistant. We have stylists and we have one esthetician. We have a written and signed contract for one bridal updo and two other updos (brides mom and aunt). Therefore, there was no need for additional stylist. The esthetician does make-up but that service was neither contracted for nor paid for. Therefore, we do not understand what the bride means by she "hired" the assistant. The bride also states that "I was promised an assistant to help with my wedding dress" (she means actually an Indian sari). We could not have possibly promised her that as our salon does not provide these services. Assuming that we could provide these service, there would have been a charge for that and it would be clearly outlined in the contract, which it was not. The bride states that she was rushed. The contracted appointment time was 10 a.m. in the morning and 5 p.m. in the evening. Samina was at the hotel at 9:45 a.m. She did the bride's hair (45 min.), mother's and aunts hair (30 min. each) and then out of goodness of her heart she waited for 40 minutes and helped the bride put on the "Sari" at her own time and without charging anything. Samina left the hotel at 12:40 p.m. (total amount of time spent, almost 3 hours). So, why does the bride feel that she was rushed? The bride states that "she made me cry on my special day!!!" This statement does not make sense at all. The bride states that "she does good hair, there is no doubt about that". Now, if the hair was done to the satisfaction of the bride, what else could a stylist do to make the bride cry and ruin her day? I have yet to figure this one out!! The bride states that "after paying her insane amount of money for my hair in the morning...." Here is the account of what she was charged. Travel fee in the morning $100. $70 for bridal updo, $45 for mother's updo, $60 for aunt's updo. No charge for waiting for 40 minutes and then spending another 30 minutes for helping the bride with her dress. Morning services total was $275. Since they breached the contract for the afternoon, after Samina had already arrived at the hotel, they were charged $100 for travel fees. They were not charged for services that they cancelled at the last minute as stated by the bride "...we paid her again for her visit in the evening...even when she did not actually do my hair in the evening..." The total for the morning and evening charge was $375; minus the $150 deposit came to $225. The wedding took place on Saturday May 23, 2009, the payment was received by phone on May 26, 2009 (3 days later) charged to VISA in the amount of $225. Now, we will leave it to the reader of this post to determine if the bride paid insane amount of money for the services provided. Finally, the bride states that ..."she conveniently 'forgot' to bring an essential piece of equipment to do my hair..." What the bride means by essential piece of equipment is hot rollers. This statement does not make sense also. Which stylist in their right mind would 'purposely forget' essential equipment? In fact a master stylist can do without the rollers -- as agreed by the bride herself no less, that Samina did a good job and "...there is no doubt about that."

IF YOU WANT SOMEONE THAT MAKES YOU CRY ON YOUR WEDDING DAY, HIRE THIS HAIR-DRESSER! I hired Samina and her assistant to do my wedding hair. I was promised an assistant to help with my wedding dress. As soon as Samina walked into my hotel room, she started telling me how busy she was, and she doesn't have time etc etc....NOT something you want to hear the morning of your wedding. Not only was she rushing me, but she conveniently 'forgot' to bring an essential piece of equipment to do my hair. Furthermore, her assistant DID NOT show up. She made me cry on my special day!!! The whole experience was extremely upsetting. I was originally going to have her do my hair for the reception in the evening, but then I refused to have her involved. After already paying her an insane amount of money for my hair in the morning, we paid her again for her visit in the evening...even when she did not actually do my hair in the evening. This lady really needs to learn the meaning of professionalism. She does good hair, there is no doubt about that. But I would not recommend her to anyone based on the way she behaved on my special day. Adios !
