Stogies, spirits and jazz are dolled up with 1920s and '30s flair at this membership-only speakeasy revival..
In Short
Located a block from Raleigh's Historic Depot District, this jazz club is reminiscent of an old-time speakeasy--where one would expect Al Capone to walk in at any time. Its 22-foot-high ceiling, leather chairs and dark fabric wall panels complement a baby grand and small tables accessorized by lamps. Live entertainment, cigars, cocktails, wines and beer draw a brisk after-work professional crowd. Weekends bring a mix of young and old jazz lovers.
BEST BAR IN RALEIGH. What a great venue for live music. My girlfriends and I went to Amra's for a bachellorette party, and it was one of the best times I have had in Raleigh. The band was great, the dancing was great, and most importantly even as packed as they were we did not get bothered by a bunch of sleazy guys all night. It felt great to go out on Glenwood South and be surronded by adults.
Great Place for a Good Time. My husband and I went to Amra's last night and had a blast! It was packed but not overwhelming. The place is beautiful and the people were friendly. The band was great they played a good variety of dance hits and mellow numbers. It was so refreshing to go out and not hang out with teenagers or have to listen to techno music all night long. This place is a refreshing chaneg to the other night spots on Glenwood. It is a great place if you are looking to hange out with adults.
Great!. Such a cool spot. I love the old school 40's feel. The inside is beautiful and the bartender Shannon makes the best drinks in Raleigh.
Its about time!. Its about time Raleigh got a place like this. It was good from the get go, the door man did not let the man infront of my girlfriend and I in because he was wearing torn jeans and flipflops. GREAT!!! The inside looked like a bar from Chicago or NewYork and the service was great. They had a Jazz Quartet with a vocalist that was impresive. I was a little weary at first because of the cigars but the high ceilings and smoke eaters made the smoke just barely noticable.
simply exquisite!. Truly, one of a kind! The atmosphere is unlike any bar in Raleigh-the staff is extremely couteous-Honestly this is the finest establishment in all my years of traveling-can't wait to come back
