I wouldn't suggest getting Extensions done by Karen to anyone....
I do not normally write reviews, but I think it's only fair to give people looking for a salon to see the good and the bad. I got extensions this year from Karen. I paid approximately $1500 for them. I was extremely excited about it, and I ignored the fact that I was a little rushed out of my consulation appointment, but I wasn't upset about it.
The day I got my extensions, she did a good job, an 8 out of 10. After the session, I thought maybe she'd straighten my extensions or style it for me, but I don't know how many people do that. As I'm sitting looking at my hair, when she's done with the register, ect, she said that she was kicking me out because someone texted her to go drinking.... it was 4pm and after giving her $1500, I didn't feel that I should have been rushed out of there. On top of that, I was never given the specific brush you are supposed to use for extensions. After telling me she'd get one, she went drinking instead.
I left 2 mesgs on their salon phone asking if I could come by and pick up the brush, but I never got a call back. You'd think if a stylist wanted her cilent to come back, they'd return her mesgs. Especially when the fee for getting extensions out is $100/hour. After being ignored, I took my business elswhere and paid someone else to take them out for me.
I would never suggest Karen to anyone, unless they wanted to feel rushed out and not cared for. I've been in sales/customer service for years, and you do not treat your clients poorly... especially when they hand you $1500 for your services.
I have never made a bad complaint on anyone, but that is a good hunk of change, and in this economy, I feel that people who are willing to pay that, should get good service. I'm not trying to bash Karen or her salon, I'm sure they have many great stylists. But I do not suggest getting extensions from her. The fact that I never had my phone calls returned really makes me mad, even tho the extensions looked pretty good, I feel cheated.
Reflection...bad hair day...or just a bad day?.
As a very difficult to please client, I am going to do something right now that I have never done on any web site ever and that is to write a review.
I feel strongly about writing this particular review because as a client of Toni I would like to dismiss accusations that have been made against her. Toni is a true professional and is eager to listen and please her clients. She has a look of profound delight in her eyes when you look in the mirror at your cut or color and tell her you are pleased.
I have not had a better cut or color from anyone since meeting Toni and that includes some of the top salons in London.
Toni can tell when you are not 100% satisfied. She can read you like a book and will subtly and kindly make you feel that it is okay to ask for changes to be made there and then if she does not hear total approval in your praise.
It is Toni?s way to make you feel you are her only client of the day, has all the time in the world and more importantly makes you feel comfortable enough to say if you think you would like changes made.
So if anyone was unhappy with their service with Toni, all it would have taken was a moment to say what the problem was and I can assure you it would have been taken care of there and then and with good grace. One wonders why you would not say anything at all if you were indeed this unhappy.
May I suggest you take a moment and know this girl is the real deal?she cares?..of course about your hair?but also genuinely about you?.quite rare these days.
Know you can still call her to fix any problem you have and without any judgment she will make sure you walk out feeling as though you are her only client??call her??
I hope you will give reflection on your review and call Toni?..Then please write another review?
NICE CONCEPT BUT STYLIST DOESN"T DELIVER !. Neighborhood salon is nice but if your are looking for professionalism, you won't find much here. A little too relaxed. Have had my hair cut and colored by Toni 2 times. I've gotten the impression they can take your business or leave it every time I've been here. One haircut was ok and then the next was so bad I thought maybe she was trying to get rid of me. I had to go somewhere else to have the cut and color corrected. I suspect this stylist is employed here due to a friendship with the owner. I also suspect that this stylist is not properly trained, needs some retraining, or is lazy and only does enough to get by with. This stylist also needs to listen more to the client. I feel she not once truly listened to my vision. She also never asked me any questions. Doesn't appear to focus on your hair while she talks non stop about her child. Can't give this salon any further business until they up their game with professional, experienced stylists.
Thank you for your response about my salon, Hair and Face Lounge.
My name is Karen Parsons and I am the owner of this Aveda concept salon. I would like to invite you back into my salon so that I can personally correct this situation.
Toni has been a stylist for 13 years and for the past three she has worked for me. During this time, I have never received a complaint about the services she has rendered. I believe this is a misunderstanding that can be fixed.
Our goal here is to make every customer feel their best when they leave our salon. If we did not meet that goal for you, please give me the opportunity to make it right.
Please give me a call at 380-2029. I look forward to hearing from you.
The Best Salon you will ever find!.
I am writting to address the cutomer that feels she has gotten ripped off on her extensions-
I have been going to Karen Parsons for 10 years. She is one of the most respected members of our community. The Hair and Face Lounge is one of the most unique salons you will ever find. All of the stylest are very innovative, up to date with all of latest/greatest, and make it a fantastic experience every visit.
I have had extensions for three years, all but one of the applications have been done at the hair and face lounge by Karen. I have never had any issues or problems with her services. However, the first experience I had was not so good. I had them done in a different state five years ago at that time Karen was not doing extensions. The application was not correct and the price was much more. This product was also Great Lengths. I have always wanted long healthy hair and this was a perfect solution so I did not give up! Of course when you get extensions you have two types of hair. One is yours and the other is not! GL and Karen matches the hair for perfect color and texture for your hair type. My hair is naturally straight and the extensions are wavey. This provides me with the opportunity to have it straight or curley. No one can even tell I have extensions and they also last me 5 months! My natural hair is assessed with every removal and re-applicaton. There has never been any damage to my own hair. In fact, I have found it to be much healthier due to the fact that it is not exposed to the envior, sun ect... The bonds protect most of your natural hair.
I could not be more pleased with the services and products provided by the Hair and Face Lounge! Try it you will not be disappointed!!
Long Live The Hair & Face Lounge. I've been going to the Hair & Face Lounge for nearly a year and I LOVE IT THERE! My best friend goes to Drew, my sister in law goes to Toni, my mother in law now goes to Kendall, and my daughter and I go to Karen. I think I can speak for all us ladies when I say that we have had nothing but success regardless of what services we get. I'm probably the most complicated with my extensions AND color services but the results are always amazing and well worth it. Its such an easy drive from Apex (I just go right up Lake Pine Drive, pretty much!), and I love the fact that the salon gets rearranged differently for almost each appointment I go to. Its never boring. If there were six star ratings, I'd give it that. This salon, the services and the stylists cannot be recommended highly enough.
hair extension rip off.
I warn women looking for a 'certified' Great Lenghts extensions hair stylist, to please not to go to 'The Hair and Face Lounge' in Cary, NC. Karen Parsons the owner and 'certified' GL stylist charged me over 1,400 dollars for hair extensions. They only looked good for two days after she put them in. After my first wash, the straight hair I had payed for, turned into this horribly frizzy and curly hair, and it has never returned to what it looked like two days post-application. Since my natural hair is straight, it looks like I have two types of hair in my head. After she got (stole) my money, she did dot want to talk to me about a week later when I called and told the receptionist that I was starting to loose extension pieces already. I have always taken proper care of my extensions I don't go swimming anymore, I wash my hair three times a week, let it air dry, and I only use the products she had me buy and the brush provided by her. I went through a terrible ordeal in my life, and I had extensions put on to regain a bit of my sel-steem. It was a big mistake. My natural hair is already showing signs of damage, and one and a half months after the service was performed, I have already lost over 1/3 of the extensions, and visible gaps in my head can been seen. I am embarassed, and only wear my hair in a bun. She finally answered one of my numerous e-mails yesterday, and simply said: 'I will be glad to remove the extensions for free, but I will not refund your money'. Is she joking? I would be insane to let this woman ever touch my hair again. Please stay away. She will lie to you, take your money, and leave you looking like a bad, sad joke.
Apex, North Carolina
Many attempts were made by myself & my staff to help w/her styling challenges. Rosana Datti?s claim that I lied to her is unwarranted. She cried tears of joy saying she loved her new hair & it would help her deal with ?low self esteem.? Once Rosana realized effort was required to style her new hair, she suffered from buyer?s remorse. She was unhappy because her hair did not look like the pictures on the Great Lengths website when she styled it herself, stating, ?I wash my hair three times a week [&] let it air dry?? as a part of her challenge. Air dried hair cannot achieve the same look done by professional stylists for ads. Not only will hair be frizzy, but the neglect will cause extensions to fall out due to excessive wetness. If you are a stylist, please keep her away from your salon. She has a history of this type of behavior, & she walked away w/great hair & many products. Rosana Datti received a full refund from her credit card company, & in the end I was the one who was robbed.
great customer service, relaxing atmosphere, nice hair cut. I went to the Hair and Face Lounge after spending a small fortune at a "top" salon and getting mediocre results. After hearing about the salon via citysearch, I called and had an appointment booked with Kendall for a highlight and cut. I opened the door to a very friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. After being offered a drink, I waited a very short period of time before Kendall made an appearance and had introduced herself. I told her what I thought I wanted (a change, but wasn't exactly sure which direction I was going with it....) and she cut and highlighted my hair. When she was finished, it was exactly what I had initially asked for, but I did not precisely state what I wanted before the cut/highlight, and wanted a few modifications (i.e. lowlights for dimension, a bit more off the cut, etc) After explaining this to Kendall, she very graciously lowlighted my hair and adjusted the cut which ended up exceeding my expectations. I received compliments from family and friends throughout the night. I will definitely come back again!!!
Color me impressed! (and with red highlights).
I have been going to Mitchell's at Crossroads for about three years now and finally my beloved hairstylist grew to be too expensive for this teacher's salary. On a whim I decided to look into the Hair and Face Lounge. I just needed a trim to my short cropped boy cut and I wanted to add some bright red highlights to my dark brown hair. I called up and told Nicole what I needed and she gave me Kendall.
Kendall wasn't just pleasant, she was down-right friendly. She listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly what I asked for. All that *AND* she offered me a beverage!
Within the next couple of days my red highlights faded to an orange-pink. I expected some fading but not this fast and not this much. When I called the salon exactly one week after my initial appt and explained my problem, they were able to get me in that day.
Again, friendly Kendall consulted with me and then she promptly redid my hair. Within an hour I had new highlights and a beverage! All for no extra charge.
Speaking of the price, at Mitchell's I was paying $70 including tip JUST for a cut/trim. At THAFL, the total came to around $80 with tip AND that was with a cut/trim AND highlights.
While there the staff/stylists talked to me about everything under the sun and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the no BS policy. I really appreciate people who can be upfront and honest about everything from the hair cut they're giving to politics to celebrities.
Thanks guys! I will return.
Amazed. I went to the Hair and Face Lounge to get a new do. Upon referral, I requested Drew. I still consider myself "young" and still enjoy a trendy and fun style. I've only been in the triangle area for about 6 months now, so I've been on the search for my next great stylist. Well Ladies, I have found him!!! Drew gave me a fabulous, stylish, and trendy new haircut.(that is still age appropriate) He really knew what I wanted, and what would look best on me. I had such a good time with him and the whole staff! This place is sooo much fun AND they know how to do some hair! Tell everyone you know to go to The Hair and Face Lounge. They will definitely be seeing me there again! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!
Not Recommended for Eyebrows. The place seems cozy, a nice atmosphere. I have been there twice for an eyebrow wax. The staff member who was styling my brows seemed more concerned with her idea and concept, rather than my own request. After my first visit, I went home and tweezed my brows until I had the high arch which I wanted. During my second visit, I specifically requested a high arch and wanted to open up my eyes. There was only a slight change to the staff member's original waxing technique. While I often consult stylists for their opinion, when I want a certain style, I expect to see those results. Do not go to this salon if you have a specific request or look in mind. This salon is a better choice if you would like to adhere to a consultation, which is good for those who seek a "new look" and don't know what looks best on them. But if I already know what looks best on me, I do not expect to repeatedly hear a second opinion. I'm just glad I went here for my brows and not anything more drastic. An average rating for customer service but below average for meeting specific requests.... I decided not to there again after my second unhappy visit.
