Great business – The Q-Shack is a really great place! My husband and I really love going here because you get quality food for a great price! The food is fantastic. We really like the beef brisket, onion rings, and baked beans. Tom, the owner catered our wedding and we could not have been happier. I got so many compliments on the food and we were so thrilled that he was able to make our vision a reality. The owner is a really nice guy and a hard worker. I highly recommend giving it a try and know you're supporting a great local business--not some ho-hum chain.
discusting – Management sees rude employees. Employees push crumbs off table. Onto floor and not clean up. Also employees rude to female guests on a regular basis. Give food half cooked, rush to get rid of,not volunteer to wait on.,Not volunteer to give food paid for, grab money payment out of hand female guests, interrupt, talk back rude, rude looks, try to start fights, not volunteer to wait on,look elsewhere when talking to female customers, walk away from female customers when waiting on them. And not volunteer to come back. And eat food while waiting on customers.
Taste of the South – Good and tasty beef brisket with a nice pepper based sweet BBQ sauce. Worth the drive across town!
Not my type of BBQ spot – We ate here shortly after they opened. The brisket was okay, and you can't get that in many restaurants in this area, but my side items (slaw and potato salad) both had an overwhelming taste of vinegar. My husband's beans also tasted vinegary to me. We have not been back...even though we eat in North Hills at least once a month or more (we go to the gym there).
It's just alright – My friend Jenn took me to Q Shack for a late birthday celebration along with a movie. The location is great because it's right in North Hills and near the theater! The bbq was just ok. It wasn't anything fancy. It wasn't very moist. The sauce tasted like store bought. I make my own pork tenderloin and pulled pork at home in my crockpot, so I'm spoiled because I make it moist and with the best sauce ever. Smithfield's is GOOD bbq. Q Shack is not. The sides were ok. The mac and cheese was clumpy and not as cheesy as I would've liked. I guess for the price, I expected more, but the location was good.
Avoid This Place! – I've traveled all over the USA, lived in Dallas, St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Los Angeles and now relocated to Raleigh. I absolutely love good BBQ of all varieties. I went to the Q Shack located in the North Hills of Raleigh on two occasions and ordered the 3 meat combo-plate to try out a sampling. On my first visit everything was over cooked and dried out. The hush puppies looked like ?and tasted like it. I thought, gee, I must have gone in on a bad day or something. I always give people and businesses the benefit of the doubt, so I decided to Q Shack another try a few days later. Same thing?only worse! I got an upset stomach from it! I don?t know what people see in this place! Maybe at one time in history they were first rate, but believe me ? this place is NOT RECOMMENDED! Spend your money somewhere else! Your stomach will love you for it!
Good Barbecue - Bad Sides – The Q Shack barbecue is good, but unfortunately their sides aren't. The macaroni and cheese has a funky flavor and so does the slaw.
Downhill fast – When it first opened up at North Hills, Q Shack was awesome. There rbibs were dry rub and fell off of the bone. They were a tailgate staple. Now, their ribs are full of disgusting fat and they have gone away from the dry rub, throwing a nasty sauce on them before they are served. They BBQ is served sopping wet now as well. I spent my last dime in there until they take it bak to the original way.
