Customer Service Lacking.
Recently had the time to visit the Hunt & Gather location on Glenwood. I was not greeted, and no one approached me offering assistance. They were not busy. I refuse to spend money at a retailer that feigns exclusivity.
The store was nice, and appeared to have some interesting items, but in these times, that's not enough. I like knowing that my presence is welcome and appreciated.
Eclectic Selection. In reading the negative comment, I wanted to post my own positive one. Hunt and Gather, like any consignment/ antique store, is going to have pricey items and also affordable ones; hints the store name. It is a business, so they do mark prices up (as any business would to stay in business), but the majority of the pieces in this store are very nice quality. I love to browse places like Hunt and Gather because you never know what you're going to find and there is always something new to look at. This store gives area designers and collectors and chance to showcase & sell their "gatherings", and that in itself is a wonderful thing. If you're anything like me, you like to make a day out of consignment shopping. When in the Five Points area, definitely put this store on your list of places to visit, because you never know what gems you can find! Some of my other fav.'s in the neighborhood are Passage Consignments, Eclectic Garden, and The Fort. If you're North Raleigh, Suzanna's and Two Birds is a consignment adventure! Have fun!
New Glenwood Location -- Amazing!. The new Glenwood location is a more modern, eclectic version of the original store....some traditional, classic pieces as well as more modern, contemporary designer items. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The variety is amazing...the store looks different every time I go in, as they re-arrange and bring in new pieces on a regular basis. Well worth a look if you're in the market for quality furniture, accent pieces, rugs, lighting, even jewelry!
Glenwood Location- HORRIBLE. Don't waste your time coming to this store. The staff is horrible and the prices are erroneously marked up. Much of the stuff consigning is yard sale quality and on the gaudy side. The owner is a raving lunatic whose temper fuels the mood in this low end "want to be" antique shop.
Editorial Review. Find vintage, antique and new furniture, jewelry, home decor and other collectibles, some dating as far back as 1690.
