The Scene – Sushi fanatics and late-night diners finally have a chic place to socialize, thanks to this cozy restaurant in Cary's MacGregor Village. Inside, the colors are soothing and subtle; rich patterns and caramel-colored wood give the space a gorgeous glow. The dining area itself is divided into separate rooms, which is good for an intimate feel--yet can make the noise seem cloying on busy nights. – – The Food – With a menu crammed full of Thai dishes and sushi rolls, how could you possibly choose? Best bet: sample both. Start with the lusciously sweet tom jha, a…
fresh fish, slow service
by funnyornot
I am picky about sushi and have had bad experiences before. So when somebody suggested Wasabi, I was not sure. It turned out surprisingly pleasant! Really fresh fish and great sushi! Romantic atmosphere. Service was undoubted slow. It seemed Everything took a While. However, other than that, the waiter was very friendly and respectful.
- Pros: food, atmosphere
- Cons: service
Pleasently surprised.

I went into this place expecting a mediocre dining experience. I was pleasently surprised.
Granted I had only sushi but....the pieces of fish were good-sized, the fish, crab and vegetables were fresh and the presentation...above average. Service was good and the food came quick (only 6 people there @ 5:30PM and 4 sushi chefs). We sat at the sushi bar and they had a few TVs' on for watching and relaxing. They had Kirin Ichiban on tap which was real nice too.
Two people, 20 pieces of sushi ordered ala carte, 2 or 3 sushi rolls and 4 tap Kirins = $110 with tip. Not cheap....but not too expensive. I'd go again for sure.
- Pros: Good portions..
- Cons: Not cheap...but not overly expensive
Great neighborhood sushi joint

I have eaten at Wasabi 3 times in the past month, mostly because it is close and is a nice change from the usual pizza/mexican/chinese restaurants which tend to dominate the Apex/Holly Springs area. The atmosphere is pleasant - good for business lunches and a little more dim/romantic at dinner. I have always received good service both in the restaurant and at the sushi bar and feel that the sushi is consistantly good and fresh. I also like their Pad See Ew.
I have read the bad reviews and don't doubt that those people had bad experiences, but I believe that if this was a terrible restaurant I would probably have had at least one bad experience in the 20 times I have been there over the past year. Don't get me wrong, this is no Nobu, but then again Cary is no NYC. Overall the price is reasonable and the sushi is perfect for a casual night out. Would definitely recommend.
- Pros: Friendly staff, nice sushi bar, good food
- Cons: Not great for small children
