Decadent cheesecakes and classic American cuisine makes this a popular chain..
In Short
Faux-rustic finishes and colorful light fixtures abound at this almost always crowded chain. The thick-as-a-book menu features Americanized versions of worldly cuisines--Mexican, Vietnamese, Italian, Thai--but succeeds best with American classics. Burgers are a good choice, especially the ""Roadside Sliders,"" mini burgers served as appetizers. The myriad cheesecakes are over-the-top in concept and decadence. You'll leave full, with leftovers.
Huge portions and wonderful cheesecake!. My husband and I got a gift certificate for Christmas last year. We went on a week night so it wasn't to busy. The food was very good and the portions were huge. When we go back we plan on splitting an entree. No kidding I honestly ate there then took the rest home and my son and I ate some of it for lunch and I finished it for dinner. It's a little expensive but I got four meals out of it. The place is nice and very unique but a bit noisy. The servers are a little slow and some what disorganized but not too bad. The servers are friendly. The cheesecake was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun Atmosphere... Great Eye Candy!. Sundays are my days to go out and have some fun. One of my favorite stops is the cheesecake factory. The food is fabulous the atmosphere is fun and very busy and the eye candy is very good. LOL!! I would recommend sitting at the bar watching a game, drinking a beer and socializing with the friendly bartenders. I have actually met a couple of my friends at this place. So you never know you might meet someone while enjoying a great meal.
All flash and no substance.
The worst dining experience I've had in 15 years. The restaurant itself had an attractive and unique atmosphere. Staff were not rude, but seemed busy yet clueless. We were told there would be @45 minute wait. This turned into 2 hours - we started to complain after a couple got called in that arrived about 15 minutes after we did (our booth was next to theirs, so it was not a smoking/non-smoking issue).
After being seated, no one ever came to take our drink order. After about 10 minutes we had to wave down a waitress who went and found ours. We order our food at this point since we've had 2 hours to look over the menu. We got the spring roll appetizer, burger, and my wife got some shrimp pasta dish. Appetizer arrived in a timely manner and was good. Things start looking up slightly. Then our drinks run dry. Waitress is MIA for 20 minutes until our food arrives. I've been noticing the couple across from us is getting slow service and look upset as well. It dawns on me that the wait is so horrible because the place is disorganized, not because there are so many people waiting to eat.
My hamburger was a joke. No condiments - I guess it's just so delicious it doesn't need any. It's served on a bun that's like rock-hard french bread. Top was off to display the magnificence of the Cheesecake Factory burger. There's a tomato slice, ring of onion, lettuce leaf, and a dry, charred oval shaped piece of ground beef (no I did not request it well-done). Suffice to say it was hard and bland and extremely overpriced. My wife's dinner was so-so and very overpriced for what she got as well.
Despite all this, we decide to get some cheesecake, since we are never coming back. We waited another 23 minutes for it to arrive (no kidding). Got the check and took it home. We could have gone to a really nice restaurant for the price we paid at this phoney place. Don't get lured in and ripped off by the Cheesecake factory - go to a restaurant where you really get what you pay for.
More than 30 varieties of the signature dessert make up only a part of this chain restaurant's gigantic international menu..
In Short
Oddball architecture--curving surfaces and colorful light fixtures--and thick-as-a-book menus distinguish this restaurant from other eateries. The encyclopedic menu spans the globe with enormous American interpretations of dishes like pad thai, shrimp tacos, miso salmon, pasta Milanese and a slate of appetizers, sandwiches, entrees and desserts too extensive to list. The namesake cheesecakes, ranging from original to peanut-butter-cup-fudge ripple, are over the top in both concept and decadence.
Stay away, service aweful! menu even worse!.
They have a book as a menu, yet nothing good to order. Food is ok, not worth the always 2hour wait!! Avoid on the weekends if you have something else to do that night!!
Service aweful! And the bad part is both locations do; Crabtree and Southpoint.
The cheesecake is great! However, not work $7.00 a slice.
Atmosphere could be better. This place has excellent cheesecake, but I can't say it is worth the long wait for their dinner entrees. I went thinking that there was something high standard about their meals, and instead got a huge portion, over priced, and so-so in the end. So, my analysis is I'll not frequent this place.....wait staff was too preoccupied with something....hardly felt like we were attended to.
Some dishes are oustanding, others below average. I learned the first time that this is not a steak house. Filet was way below average and overpriced. Since then, I have tried the cajun and asian dishes. They are much much better. The Thai spicey chicken noodles is my favorite. The wait is long, the atmosphere is great, the service is ok, the desserts are, well, its the cheesecake factory. Order right and you will enjoy your experience. Order wrong and you will not want to go back. The booths in the left dining area section are the best to eat in, far from smoking section.
Am I Missing Something?? I Don't Get It!. I don't understand how this restaurant is so popular. I have been to the chain in Raleigh and tonight went to the one in Durham. The one in Raleigh had a 6-hour wait on a Saturday night!! The one in Durham charged us twice for the meal that they messed up. I don't get the hype. The food is decent, isn't horrible, but nothing special. For the price and the service, I would rather go somewhere that has amazing food. If you don't care about service and you want to eat trough-sized-average dishes, then this is your restaurant. If you want a dining experience, go somewhere else.
