I was customer at Generations for atleast 2 years, and finally got tired of expensive cuts and colors and big time product pushers. And No Matter HOW LONG you have been a good tipping customer, its all about the money to them.
I found myself paying for full highlights and getting alot of highlights on the upper layers but few underneath or in the back. The growth back was uneven so I found myself returning more frequently for colors and paying crazy high prices.
Do yourself a favor. Do your research and spend your money somewhere else. This salon pretends to be high end, but really is not. Go FIND A Real Salon SOMEWHERE ELSE.
What you Should Know Before......
Things you should know before becoming an employee or customer of Generations Salon in Brier Creek;
Salary means 38 hrs a week that you are paid for. You are required to be there 15 minutes before schedule that is 2 hours a week unpaid. You do not receive breaks and they deduct 2 hours from your paycheck even if you do not take them. They go back and fix their books for legal purposes to look as though they give breaks. There is no overtime but you will work over your scheduled time either tending to clients or cleaning the salon.
As service providers you can expect to do everything including scrubbing toilets, dusting, moping, vacuuming, laundry etc which is fine if you are getting paid what you are worth. There are mandatory salon meetings on your day off at 9am unpaid. Volunteer charity events are mandatory.
As far as pay goes... Salary means your hourly plus tips. TIPS are TAXED! They are put into your paycheck and taxed like regular income. No one tips cash these days and clients would want to know this so they could leave their provider with cash. Their is ZERO commission on products or incentive to up sell. They talk about a team bonus that NEVER has happened.
Raises do not happen either. There are employees that have not had raises in over 5 years! Service providers that bring in 100-180,000 a year all make less than 27-30,000 tips included. There are 5 paid vacation days and 5 unpaid a year. If you miss more than the allowed time they will take double out of your paycheck ( they argue that this is to replace you) this is also illegal.
There are mandatory trainings that you must pay for tickets, travel, food, and stay. There are rarely classes to educate service providers with new and innovative techniques. Although they are an Aveda salon, they use other color lines with out the clients knowledge.
Clients are pressured to buy products every visit including overpriced boutique merchandise. Clients feel pressured and rushed. Stylist are over booked and are unable to give 100% to their clients. Someone with long hair or a complicated color/style gets the same amount of time as a client with short hair.
This post is to inform service providers and customers of what is undoubtedly happening at Generations Salon. This post has been written by a professional service provider with proof of these findings.
DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON-Horrible Experience. Wish I could find something positive to say about this salon/spa, but I can't. Visited this salon this month for facial, massage and pedicure and it was the worst service I have ever received. Massage was pretty much someone lightly stroking my skin, facial consisted of two types of masque applications, steam for about 3 minutes, and off I went; pedicure was horrible -- I left with crooked nails and polish on my skin. Never received the foot and calf massage they describe. To make matters worse, the nail person shoved her business card in my face when she finished. No smile, no conversation -- just a business card. Why would I ever go back? What a waste. A lot of money for terrible services. Do yourself a favor and go to another Spa.
I just had The best pedicure I've ever had! I got the Caribbean Pedicure and I got a great massage, and exfoliation . I cannot stress how this was THE BEST pedicure I've ever had in my entire life!!.
All the staff was friendly, and Genesis the nail tech who did my pedicure, was exelent,she absolutely knew what she was doing. Will highly recommend!!
Middle of the Road Style, High on price.
The stylists don't pay attention to you, but are busy with each other.
Both "Your wallet and Your Hair" will Pay for this less than stellar 'Spa Experience".
Please stop the chatter, but would recommend.
?Day Spa?, ?Spa Experience? ?
Women hear these terms and our excitement builds as we peruse the list of services.
As women, we understand these are terms that are not catering to the full spa experience. You want to arrive, get a trim, perhaps highlights and leave.
Here is the big difference I would like to share with all of the hair stylists in North Carolina (We love you all).
When you call yourself a Day Spa, and a client books a hair appointment, even if it?s for something simple, like a wash and dry (which I love), for me, this is a vacation from the normal world and into the ?spa world.? Why?
A)You do not have to stand in the shower, wash your hair and condition your hair. If you have longer hair, this can take about 10-12 minutes.
B)You do not have to take the 45 minutes to dry your hair. For medium length to longer hair, it takes about 45 minutes (and I am not very good at this) to dry my hair. It is a pain. To treat my self for a low cost, I will head to a ?Day Spa? who will do this at a low cost, especially when you have no time and want your hair to look FANTASTIC.
You have the title ?Day Spa?, for that reason, I expect a limited amount of discussion. I am not trying to be rude. But, this is ?me? time. I want to review all of the latest gossip in the ?OK? and ?People? magazines. I don?t have these at home. I want to see what Tom Cruise is up to, because as home, I don?t have that opportunity.
When you (talented hair stylist) speak incessantly about your dog, your husband, boyfriend, and ask me questions, that makes me determine ?you are NOT the person I want to see again for my Spa experience?. I want silence, sweet silence, to enjoy the fragrant aromas of the creams and potions you place in my hair and your fingers on my scalp, the warmth of the dryer.?
Just give me some silent, quiet, me time. If I ask you a question and I want to talk. Fine. Otherwise, please let me enjoy the ?Spa Experience?.

Patrick is wonderful. I have been going to Generations for about 1 year. Patrick takes his time, focuses on detail, and is friendly to boot! The atmosphere is very relaxed and the focus is perfection without stress. I am happy to finally find someone who will listen, give constructive feedback, and will take their time.

I have been going to Brooke for over two years now for cut and color. She does a wonderful job every time I go. She took a fairly hideous creation that was the result of another local salon (which shall remain nameless to protect the not so innocent!) and turned it into something amazing. I constantly get compliments on my hair on both the style and color.
I even recommended her to a co-worker and she loves her just as much as I do. Brooke did my wedding makeup and DeNae (might have spelled that wrong) did my wedding hair and I got complimented on it the entire day. They also did my sister's wedding hair and makeup for my big day and she looked like a movie star!
Shaheen also does wonders with her threading. It's a must for those who have sensitive skin who can't wax but want to take off the facial hair.
They have a great location and a wonderful atmosphere. They are always very pleseant and accomodating. I highly recommend the salon and definately would (and have!) recommend Brooke, DeNae and Shaheen.
Great Color and Cut! Relaxing Atmosphere. I just had the best cut and color and loved my stylist. Elizabeth McHenry rocks! I look like a totally different person and felt like a princess while I was there. Even better was that while the stylist was applying my color, I sat at a round table with a huge selection of magazines to select from. Someone even came by and offered me something to drink and snacks! If you want to feel and look special, this is the place to be! Thanks to Everyone at Generations!!!
wonderful service. I just left the slaon for the first time and it was a wonderful experience, Patrick Pridgen does a wonderful job, listens to what you want and makes your time there a treat. I have followed him there from Wakeforest,, I have very thick hair and it takes a certain talent to make it look good and he has it. I always receive compiaments on the cut and color. I highly recomend him to anyone.
