What Happend to Torero's?

by heatherA

I have loved this place for years. We have always enjoyed the food and the salsa. The customer service was good. Now that I have been then twice this month, I am concerned that they may have changed managers or something. On my husband's birthday, the customer service was bad; they did not refill drinks well. It was my husband's birthday, so we requested something special like we had experienced in the past. Past birthdays they were always nice; they would bring a desert, sing and take your picture. This last time around they brought out a small desert and just left it at the table without a word. The server clearly wanted to leave so she brought the check for her tip and left us sitting there alone with no server at all. We had to clear our own plates and ask random people for drinks. I thought maybe it was just one bad night but somehow.... They screwed it up again tonight. Our server left us sit there without taking orders for a good 20 min. She finely brought out drinks. When we ordered she asked what kind of beans we wanted, we all stated that we would rather have black beans. She cut us off at the end and told us she did not think they would have enough black beans so it did not matter. She needed to check in the kitchen.... What? There were only seven of us and the place was not full, so yeah I was curious. Lucky they had enough black beans this Thursday night at 8pm. When we received our food, she said there is no gacamolle left. We all wondered if they were going to lower the price or what, if you notice that that is one expensive item you pay extra for on a plate. At that point, I asked if they could give a small credit back or sub it out maybe. She came back with sliced avocados, stating, "That is all we have" a couple avocado has to slice. We ate and left without saying anything, honestly though: if we had tried to explain any of this they would not understand. They do not speak English. We were nice and polite both times and left. I will not be going back, it is too stressful. I like the food; however, the cutbacks on service and quality overall are ruined. I wish I knew.

The Greatest Mexican since El Guapo.

by whiteythelawyer

(Mexican) - Lucky, Dusty and Ned pay attention! Monday is Margarita night. They're cheap and they come in Dixie Cups. (Stop laughing.) The food is some of my wife's favorite (Mrs. Whitey) and overall it is the best mexican in town without a doubt. -Whitey

Best Mexican food in the Triangle

by redhead85

Torero's is definitely one of the best mexican restaurants I've ever been to. For a real treat, try the chimichanga, or the chalupa - you'll never order them again from Taco Bell. I love enchiladas but that's definitely not their specialty here. Try a margarita, they're strong, and well worth the money.

  • Pros: Live music, great food, strong drinks
  • Cons: Enchiladas are just ok
