Horrible, unprofessional, not healthy atmosphere.. I have to agree with one of the other posters. When I first arrived, I was forced to walk through a cloud of smoke on the front porch. This should have been the big signal to leave. I waited for my relaxing massage only to be greeted with the foul odor of smoke and the horrible sounds of coughing. This was not relaxing in any way. Far from earthy and healthy. I went home and my family thought I had been smoking. I had to shower and wash my clothes several times.

Avoid unless you are a smoker too.

Terrible Experience!. I had been a loyal customer of Serena for both hair and eye brow waxing services. However, each time I made an appointment it was with a different person, stylists don't seem to stay around too long. At my most recent and final eye brow waxing appointment I had a new girl do my waxing. It was not until after she was finished did she tell me she had never used that kind of wax before and didn't really know how! Not only was the atmosphere unprofessional and the staff rude..... she burned me!!!! What a waste of overpriced service!!!!!!!

Serena is the BEST!!. I've been searching-- for years-- for someone who could give me that perfect haircut. My last great haircut was when I was living in NYC 10+ years ago. Then I found Serena!! She is THE BEST hairdresser I have ever had--bar none! I love my haircut! Serena considers the whole person, including bone structure and type of hair, when offering suggestions on cut. She has such a warm and outgoing personality, too. Perfect location, set in a lovely house with a big front porch--bright and airy--very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere--all right here in downtown Raleigh! I just had a facial--which was terrific. Thanks, Amy, and thanks, Serena, for being here in Raleigh. Oh..and I love your music!

Worst spa in Raleigh-POOR service & value. Iif you want a RELAXING spa experience that's worth the money, stay away from Serena's.

I have a laundry list of compliants:

1. Masseuse took a 15 minute smoke break instead of starting my appointment on time

2. My masseuse reeked of smoke - no amount of sandlewood candles or scented oil could cover the odor

3. I scheduled an hour massage, hour facial, and a scalp massage but somehow managed to be done in less an hour and a half (guess she was making time for another smoke break)

4. They were out of robes, so they gave me a towel wrap to walk around the spa in - so relaxing!

5. The owner (Serena) kept messing up while trying to ring me out - she spent more time trying to figure out the credit card machine than the esthetician spent giving me my supposedly hour-long facial.

Perfection. I recently visited Serena's for the first time and had an amazing experience. I was preparing for an interview and needed a new cut and highlights and working with Ed, a wonderful stylist, I walked out with hair and highlights that were in a word "perfect." The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing and the results are fabulous. Needless to say, I got the job, of course thanks go to Ed for his expertise, style and good luck charm. I look forward to my next visit.

Exceptional Talent. Serena is exceptionally talented. My hair is always perfectly cut and the highlights are always the perfect blend of colors. I recently changed from blond to red highlights and my hair was great after she was finished as usual. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair.

LIVE GUITAR at the salon/spa in RALEIGH?..YEP.. I discovered this luxuriating urban haven after a difficult day at work.....I drove by and saw the clients enjoying a glass of wine on the veranda with LIVE music, (they aren't in a strip center, or doctor's office...it's a charming 2 story bungalow, that feels like New York), with palm trees, paddle fans and flowers.I couldn't wait to prk and go inside! Serena visualized a new design JUST FOR ME...She's the style coach for Fox 50's TVshow "ENTREPRENUER$". This is the only five star salon and spa here. I LOVED IT !!!

Best Ever!. A friend of mine recomended that I try a stylist there (Linda). I have never been happy with any color or haircut I have received since moving to Raleigh 4 years ago.

I am THRILLED with my new look! She took the time to speak with me and gave suggestions, that I hadn't even thought of. She offered me herbal tea and paid complete attention to me during the whole process.

The atmosphere there is very relaxing. I sent two more of my friends to Linda and they were also very happy with her expertise and the results!

Hot!!!. My experiecne at Serena's was off the hook! I had my hair colored and it was exactly how I wanted it. The service was outstanding! I spent 1 hr in heven while I was being pampered in the facial room. The whole experience was a treat and I'll definitily be spending more time at the spa.

NOT worth a penny to me!. I had been a loyal customer of Serena, and loved my stylist Stephanie. When I called to make an appointment this time, I was informed that Stephanie had left, and that they now only have "master stylists" available. Having faith in the salon, I made an appointment with another stylist. To make a long story short, I paid $65 for a haircut from a "master stylist" at Serena, only to arrive home and realize when I combed it out that it was a horrible!! It was completely uneven and choppy. I phoned the salon immediately and left messages for several days to request that it be repaired, but received no response. Needless to say, I'm terribly disappointed in the haircut, but far more disappointed in the lack of customer service I received from a salon I had grown to trust. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.
