In Short – Fans of all ages are welcome to catch the game at this high-energy sports bar. From college guys drinking beers and cheering on their favorite team to families enjoying a meal and the game on one of the many large screen televisions, no one feels out of place. The spacious restaurant is loud and crowded on game days, so come early if you want to find a seat.

- On The Menu:
- Not only does MacGregor Ale House have several large-screen televisions so you can watch all the games, it also offers over 20 beers on tap (including local favorites such as Carolina Pale Ale).

My family has been a loyal patron to the Mac Gregor since it opened, until 2 years ago when we noticed the food and service going downhill. I don't think the menu has changed in years, and there is no pride in their food. Tried again for lunch on 5/6/2011 and was very disappointed once again. Look at the pic I posted of my wife's sandwich - see the little white square plastic bun bag twist tie on the side of the plate....ya, was in the cheese of the sandwich when my wife took a bite.
Service was horrible again, had to find a waitress to serve us after sitting outside for 10 minutes. My wife requested a different cheese on her sandwich - of course messed that up too but not a big deal compared to the plastic snafu. On a positive note, the mgr. Jeremy did comp the meal which was the right thing to do.
MacGregor rocks for beer, food, and sports!

Best place around to watch some sports, have a good beer, and chow down on some great food. We love it here.

My second time there will be my last time. My son's PB&J was old and horribly stale - like it was made the day before and left out for a while. My daughter's mandarin orange side "tastes old daddy". When asked how everything was I (in a friendly, but straighforward way) pushed the uneaten PB&J plate to the server and asked her to take it to her manager to see if he/she would eat it. It was so bad that someone in charge needed to know about it. Instead of a visit from the manager, I got a return from the server with a message "he/she took it off the bill for you". I'm sure this is exactly what my son was looking for, since all 7 year olds really care about is the restaurant bill when they dine out. No "let me get you something else". No "sorry about that, no excuse, our bad". Just a smug look like we were nuts for not eating the absolute crap they put on a plate for my child. Serving a hockey puck is one thing, but catching an attitude when it's brought to your attention makes you a bunch of 'kheads. Two thumbs down and one finger up for the draft house, maybe even a shocker. Don't go there.
There's a place with a much better draft selection and all the better things this place is lacking that is only 4 miles further down the road just past 55 near Borders.
- Pros: decent draft beer selection
- Cons: crappy food, service, and management
I gave them a second chance.....

The service was terrible. The good was ok, nothing great but the prices was ok too. The selection is pretty good but not worth waiting forever for someone to notice your glass is empty.
- Pros: Beer Selection, regular food
- Cons: Service
Great food, but price increases and gotchas mean it is no longer the value it was.

MacGregor Draft House has a reputation for good food at good prices. The food is still good, but the prices have really gone up.
Beer used to be 2.50/draft on Wednesday, it has now increased to 3.00/draft - and they now exclude the pricier brews.
There have been a series of food price increases, and they now charge for substitutions and extra sauces (which they never used to). The waitresses are under instructions to not tell the customers of these new charges, so the first you know about it is when your bill arrives at the end of the meal.
I know that times are tough and their costs must be up, but the way they are trying to sneak price increases on their loyal customers may not be the best solution to the challenges that they face.
- Pros: good food, lots of beers on tap
- Cons: 'bait and switch' pricing and hidden add-ons
