Raleigh >Fly Salon
GREAT salon. I've been going to Elaine at Fly for more than 7 years now (followed her from Salon 21). She is not only a fantastic stylist but also listens to you about what you want, don't want, etc. She has a great eye for what works for you and is honest about it. The atmosphere is fun and hip, great music always playing and local artwork always on display. Great place!
steven is the greatest. Fly Salon is located in a quaint house on Boylan. The owners highlight different local artists every month in the space. It's always a pleasant experience, good music, friendly people and great service! I strongly recommend any of the artists at Fly.
Great Stylists and atmosphere!!. The Fly salon is set up in a cute little house in downtown that makes the experience there very comfortable and personable. All of the stylists are wonderful, friendly and up to date with trends. You can tell they all really care about everyone who comes in. My stylist Kellie relocated to FLY and I am so impressed by the staff and the environment. Glad she found a wonderful new home!! Great stylists, great location and great experience!
it was a wonderful experience from the moment i walked in to the second i walked out! my hair cut was exactly what i wanted and the color was great! my stylist had great new suggestions for me and i've never been happier! thank you, fly!
Great stylist. They have new stylists at Fly and Sonya was awesome! Very sweet, personable, and most of all she knows how to cut hair. The atmosphere at Fly is very cool and the prices are reasonable. Fly is a very hip downtown salon that you should certainly try out.
horrible. It was a terrible experience. The stylist did "fit me in" when I didn't have an appointment, but I still had to wait 45 minutes. Then she cut my hair dry and still charged me $50 for a cut that ultimately was uneven and shabby. The next stylist I went to commented on how uneven the back looked (and later friends admitted that indeed the back was uneven, I never saw it of course :) -- I've been to lots of different salons; and this one was the worst.
Stay away. The worst salon experience I ever had in my entire life was at Fly. The employees are beyond rude and don't bother making an appointment because apparently it does no good. The first time I went with an appointment I was told to come back in an hour because my stylist was not ready for me and in the middle of helping someone else. So, giving her the benefit of the doubt, I came back in one hour only to find her not even there. I had to wait another 15 minutes for her to arrive. Finally, after almost two hours past my original appointment she washed my hair, cut it and then shoved me in a corner under a drier for another 20 minutes while she started on someone else! She could tell I was not happy and, to her credit, she did apologize and only charged me half price for the cut. I mistakely believed this to be a forgivable mishap and regretfully returned. On my second trip to the salon I was amazed that, yet again, my stylist had double booked and was doing another persons hair when I arrived. Again I was shoved into a corner under a dryer with a wet head watching her do someone else's hair. Visably upset and very perturbed at this point, she proceeded to confront me. In front of everyone she berated me and yelled at me, accusing me of having a bad attitude and telling me that the world doesn't revolve around me. I was so mortified I could barely stand it. The last time I checked, the sole reason for making an appointment is based entirely on the notion that the world does NOT revolve around you. I will NEVER go back to Fly ever again and I strongly urge anyone reading this... do not subject yourself to the vulgar, offensive and disrespectful staff of Fly. It was truly a horrible experience.
Why Fly?!. If you don't get what Fly is about, you probably never will. The staff is current, hip, courteous, fun, friendly and unique. I have been a client for about a year and have never left disappointed. Every time I go for a style, my stylist treats my hair like it is a work of art, looking at the texture, envisioning what he will do to make it the perfect 'do.' He always hits the mark and I always leave looking like I'm headed to an important event. Located in the heart of downtown Glenwood Avenue, the building is a throwback to a Raleigh from years past. The orignal floors and ceiling have been preserved and are just cool to take in. The salon is styled in a bohemic, whimsical sort of way and I always find something new that I've never seen before. Why Fly? Because it is the BEST Salon in town!
Run 2 Fly 4 the best hair Glenwood South offers.. I have followed my hair stylist from a couple of salons over the years in the Raleigh area and I have never felt more at home and well cared for than at Fly. While their Bumble hair line is of great quality I have never felt any pressure to buy unless I chose to. The staff of professionals are friendly, talented and are very well versed and educated within their trade and really know and understand both color and cut. The simplicity and cleanliness of the salon is very noticable and appreciated. Now that I can also pay by credit card if I want, I will Fly to Fly anyday!
The Atmosphere, the Staff, the Cut.
The Atmosphere:This Salon needs a major facelift. For the prices they charge, they should be investing some of the $$$ back into the salon itself and give it an upscale look.
The Staff: Although the atmosphere is poor, the staff is warm & friendly, and listens to their clients
The Cut: Each time I go, I am happy with the haircut I receive, which keeps bringing me back.
