In Short – This bi-level gym housed in a renovated warehouse is popular with the young, urban professional crowd. It features state-of-the-art equipment, including treadmills (each with TV and heart-rate monitor), bikes (each with headphone plug-ins), and weight-lifting systems such as FreeMotion, Prospot's "Grab and Go," Hammer Strength and LifeFitness cross trainers. Group fitness classes include Spinning, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, circuit training and step.
STAY CLEAR OF PEAK FITNESS!

This "health" club is a bunch of scam artists. They are opening many health clubs in the South Eastern US keeping them open for about 1 year and then closing them. The Knightdale facitily closed within a year and all the equipment was gone within days. They then force you to drive to another facility further from the original location. I have tried to cancel my membership but you are just fed a bunch of lies.
Buyer Beware! STAY CLEAR OF ALL PEAK FITNESS CLUBS- they make promises of things that they have no intention of keeping.

You never give a gym your account number!
by zenobia0000
You get what you pay for. it is probably the cheapest gym around, but you get what you pay for. for 14 bucks a month, you can't expect too much. At least the one downtown has decent equipment.
I used to work in a gym, and I can tell you that you should NEVER give them your account information and do monthly withdraw. Pay up front. It's usually cheaper and they don't keep that info and they CAN'T automatically renew. Put it on your credit card if you need to, but never let them have that info, you would be suprised how unsecure it is also.
Same goes for the training service, btw.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: people
Nasty, Filthy, and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
by edrockster
Long ago, Spa Health Clubs was a great chain of value oriented health clubs. Their prices were fair and their facilities were clean and in good condition. A few years back Capital Fitness bought out Spa Health Clubs, and the decline began; but Spa Health Clubs/Capital Fitness were still a reasonable place to work out. A year or two later, Peak fitness took over, and what was once a gradual decline became a jet powered dive off a cliff. I've never been to a nastier gym. A good number of the aerobic machines don't work. The roof leaks in at least one location. The hot tub has been broken in Chapel Hill for nearly a year--and the pool deck hasn't been cleaned, as best I can tell, since Peak Fitness took over. The sauna in the Durham club has all kinds of questionable matter on its floor, and the aerobics floor has been damaged beyond repair due to neglected roof leaks. If you're thinking about buying a gym membership, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This place is the worst!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Filthy facilities, scary clientele, broken equiment
