Great local gym. Great local gym. If you're tired of hanging out with the "steroid crew" and want a convenient place to feel the burn, come here. Friendly staff. Perfect size gym. Basketball court, massage therapist, etc....

This gym has been much renovated recently and has a new owner. A lot of the old reviews on here are under the old owner and before recent renovations.

Just what I need in a gym, with a comfortable environment. I've been a member of this health club for years. It's got all the equipment I need (and much more, including saunas) and it's open when I need it to be. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. It's clean and fairly quiet; there are no video screens. The members range from high-schoolers to seniors. They offer a number of activities during the week which are included in the price of the membership: aerobics, strength training, yoga classes, etc. I think the membership price is reasonable. It seems the perfect gym for those of us who just want to work out in a pleasant environment.

Find another gym. I joined this gym a year ago...what a waste of money! Like another reviewer suggested, this gym could probably field a team for the senior olympics. I would say approx. 90% of the members I've seen are at least 55+.

The equipment is all mix and match off-brands, old, and in poor shape. It's dark, they never have all of the overhead lights on, I guess trying to save onthe power bill.

Need a decent local club. I'm a member of a triangle area club. I was looking to join a club in my hometown (Wake Forest). I wasn't impressed with the Wake Forest Health Club. My main complaint is that they wouldn't allow me a free workout to try out the equipment. I've never joined a club that won't give a prospective member a free workout. It just doesn't make any sense. If I'm going to sign up for a year, I think the club ought to let me try out the equipment. Also agree with another commenter that the hours are not that good. My sense is that this club focuses on the geritol crowd and isn't all that interested in getting new members in my demographic. Wouldn't recommend this gym. I'll stay where I'm at for now and hope that Gold's gym moves into Wake Forest.

Nice people, but not my kind of gym. I toured the faciltity as I was looking for a gym in the area. The staff was great but the equipment looks very outdated. The gym area itself was also dimly lit either because the lights weren't working or possibly they were trying to save on power. In either case it gave the place a dingy feel. But what really stopped me from signing up are the hours of operation. They are only open till 1pm on saturdays and closed sundays. Also think they close relatively early weeknights too. I really don't know how a gym can operate with hours like that. Neither recommending or not recommening, my advice is check it out for yourself. But with hours like that there's no way I could join this place.
