Somewhat RUDE. Called to find out about a used controller. They searched for a store with used controllers and when I didnt want to pay for a new one, just an old one, they became short with me. The crabtree store claimed they could even search stores or give a number to a neighboring location despite capital saying otherwise. Im done with game store nerds and a-- holes!

If broke, they give you a beat up new one. I bought a wii. One of the game discs would not work (the sport disc). I went there, and they exchanged it with a used beat up one. I said "hey!" and they said I could accept it, or write to Nintendo.

They don't back up their stuff. They just sell it, then you're on your own if it doesn't work.

Use reward zone at best buy or get smart and use Amazon. Good:

Large selection of used games

The employees are uber dorks and can make you feel good about yourself knowing that while you still love playing video games, you're not that bad

Bad:

More expensive than best buy (if you use the reward zone benefits) or amazon (if you get free shipping - which you usually do)

Incredibly annoying staff*

*To clarify:

1) The staff always talks with what I call a "teacher voice" - that is, the volume of their voice would only be tolerable if they were in a room with 30 kids all talking at the same time.

2) They don't know when to shut up.

3) They don't seem to understand that not everyone who goes in there spends 80hrs a week playing WOW (World of Warcraft)

4) They don't seem to understand that you're not there to be their friend

5) They don't know the old saying "The customer is always right"

6) I've seen them try to talk moms into purchasing things that they don't really need - i.e. a $20+ usb cable for charging ps3 controllers

Disclaimer: all above is based on my personal experience in several NC gamestop & ebgames locations

DON"T BUY REFURBISHED GAMES SYSTEMS. bought a refurbished ps3 from them and was told it was refurbished by Sony. NOT TRUE because when it completely shut down after 2 months and Gamestop WOULDN"T DO ANYTHING except offer to buy it back for $150, Sony wouldn't fix it without charge because it was NOT refurbished by them the first time, voiding the warranty with Sony. After calling again they said they would try to locate another 60 G PS3 to replace the broken one, only to then call me back and tell me there was nothing they could do, and suggest again to pay Sony to fix it. When I asked them who refurbished there machines, they told me gamestop does. Not what they told us when we bought it. So basically they sell playstations for around $450 to people, they break in 2 months, the customer brings them back, they tell you "oh, should have bought the extended warranty", but we'll buy it back for $150, ( some people probably do it), then they send them somewhere to fix them and obviously they don't do a very good job, to then sell the same broke down system again to someone else for $450. Then you can't even get Sony to fix it without paying them because Gamestop voids the warranty with Sony because Gamestop tries to fix them. Don't buy from this company, they have horrible customer service

and obviously don't care about making there wrongs right!!!!
