Tips for Murphy Motor Co

First off BEWARE!!!!! I purchase a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Murphy Motor CO IN early november of 2012. The vehicle was in immaculate exterior condition, and had 105,xxx miles. It had a clean car fax. Within two days a check engine light came on and I had to replace the throttle positioning sensor. Not a huge problem, but c'mon two days. Needless to say it cost me $47.00. Within another week a light came on that said Check Gauges. I carried it to a reputable mechanic in the Raleigh area. Turns out they said the vehicle burned oil awfully. I had to replace the oil pressure sending unit, two speed sensors, and change the oil. All for a whoping grand total of $550. As all would think the repairs would've been over and out of the way, not hardly. A month later I had to have both rear window motors replaced, costing $ 400 per window. And now for the grand finale, in early january ( need I remind you the 30 day tags haven't been of of the vehicle for hardly a month, the motor blows. I was riding down 40 E bound when the car shut off. I had to get it towed to a mechanic who told me the motor needed to be replaced along with the cranks sensor. The quote I received was for a brand new motor w/ labor and it was for $4800. I paid $7200 cash for the vehicle from MURPHY. So I gave him a call and got a run around for 3 days. I received every excuse in the book. Finally He called me back to inform me there was nothing he could do about the vehicle, but told me he could get a motor for cheaper. I havent heard from him since. So two months a 5k miles later im in to a jeep $12,000. Please beware of this crook, because he will take your hard earned money and pocket it.

I just purchased a 2004 Jeep Liberty from Tom at Murphy Motors. I had been looking for a car for 3 weeks and I noticed the car while leaving silver states. I looked on the web site but it was not listed because they just got it. I wasn't happy with the liberty selection at Silver States the car was very visally run down and loud. The liberty at Murphy Motors was 2 years newer, fully loaded, and had not had any damage (CLEAN CARFAX), unlike the other one. I saw it online and put a buy order in the next day, Tom was very helpful and they even help me get an extra part I wanted at no extra cost. I had financing already through the Credit Union and the Liberty was $2500 below NADA and suggested retail! I am very happy and can't wait to go through Pharmacy school with my Liberty driving me along the way. :-)

real customer, great experience. i had just left silver state imports which is directly next door. my credit is challenging but i had a huge down payment.the jack**s at silver state Tony took my app. and said hed let me know in 2 or 3 days. as we were leaving i saw a very clean black acura tl at murphys and pulled in to look at it.

i want to say first off, from the moment i got there they were curtious and listened to my situation and what i had to say and jumped right on getting my deal put together. i told Tom, the salesperson, i need a car asap. i was just in a wreck and every day im without a car is a day im losing money. instead of saying give me 2 days he said "if we start now we can get you finished up today".

long story short, despite my challenging credit (which was a result of my daughter being hospitalized for 3 months and passing a few years back), they did everything they had to do to put me in the car i wanted at a great price. they dont forget ab you after the sale.

the person who wrote the previous review really honeslty was at fault for her bad experience. she should've paid more attention to her payment schedule, not to mention, your payments are based on the price of the car you want and your credit. if the payment was to much for her she should have gotten a cheaper car.

great business, great team, great experience.

Be Aware!. Please, if you go to this dealership, do not go with your guard down! And do not go being desperate for a new car! I don't recommend Murphy Motor Company b/c the manager asks too much as far as the monthly payments. A salesperson who barely spoke English, told me a very low payment. I was like hey, I can do that! Come to find out that was biweekly! WHO DOES THAT? Biweekly? I didn't know dealerships even did that. He didn't say biweekly, my stupid self didn't read my contract through, and I just assumed it was per month.

When I tried to talk to the manager about the situation he had NO compassion whatsoever! He said I signed a contract and there was nothing he could do.

Honestly, biweekly? If you have heard of that, please let me know. One more thing, if you get your car financed there, they do NOT send you a bill, you have to remember your payments. You can set up auto payments, mail in a check or go by and pay. I guess they accidently forgot to tell me I could mail in a check. The only options they gave me at first was to come by or set up auto payments (costs extra)! Maybe they did forget! Yeah right!
