My Favorite Place in Raleigh. This is my first time writing a review but after reading some poor reviews I felt I must defend my favorite restaurant. I found this place through a friend who loved their brunch on the weekends (which is amazing btw). Since that moment I have chosen this place for almost every special occasion. Its cozy, fun and inviting. Most of the wait staff is helpful and polite. I personally love what I call their special specials. They are not on the menu or written anywhere. Its normally what the cook has picked and normally its out of this world. I've only had one poor experience at Nofo and it was because I ordered something I normally wouldn't have picked. I highly recommend this place to basically everyone. They have the best salads too.
Great Sunday Brunch. Delicious sunday brunch! Pretty good service. Different and fun. The store has a lot of great gift ideas, although somewhat pricey, depending. Also, good date spot.
TRY TO AVOID MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. TERRIBLE SEVICE!!!, I respect senior citizens, but this lady "REBECA", she is just the worst. I don't see the point of hiring a 60 year old lady who can't even take care of two tables, but the manager gives her five tables to take care of. Terrible attitude, angry face, it seems like smiling is not allowed at this restaurant. I bet Napoleon Dynamite and friend Pedro would do a better job there. Food is not too bad, though it would be much better if it was served warm. Well, maybe I shouldn't be writing so many bad things about this place, if you don't care going out and be treated like Nofo's mascot (a PIG), then you'll be fine.
Great Atmosphere and easy parking. I have mixed feelings on this restaurant. We go here every Sunday for brunch and the food is spectacular, I'd almost say the best breakfast I've ever had. Service varies, some servers are quiet & a little snobbish, others friendly and helpful. (Same applies to hostesses though they tend to be more snobbish than friendly). I've had to wait for sauces, drink refills, etc, but that can happen anywhere you eat when it's crowded. A larger selection of cozy booths would be nice and slightly more attentive wait staff but food needs NO IMPROVEMENT, it's great! Not very crowded during weeknights but usually packed by 10:15 for Sunday brunch.
A funky Five Points shop with great gifts and gadgets..
In Short
A Five Points gift shop with a rowdy sense of humor, Nofo turns on the charm the second you step inside. Upstairs, gifts and gadgets seem to snicker around every corner: Shrinky Dink wine charms, pig hand towels, mood dog collars. Can you pass through the toy section without poking a stuffed bear? Not likely--the shop's fun, confetti-colored atmosphere inspires playful browsing. Wander all the way back for a glimpse at Nofo's deli, or head downstairs for sit-down meal.
Above average ambiance; uneven food; below average service.
What can I say? I keep going back because the place is just so damn cute! That said, I have to agree with previous reviews about the service. I've got about a 20% success rate for getting a competent and/or friendly server. Some dishes are better than others. The eggs benedict is always good as is the shrimp blt. The mango salad would be delicious if fresh rather than (stilll) frozen mango was used. AVOID the quiche which has been as hard as a rock the past two times I've ordered it. Also, the chocolates behind the glass in the boutique are stale.
NOFO Manager/Owner - It's not too late!! Save your restuarant by sprucing up the service and the food. Many people I know in the Fletcher Park and Five Points areas have a similar opinion as I've expressed, but are "on your side" and really hoping you can pull out of this slide! Good luck and godspeed!
Good Food, Bad Service.
Getting seated was a little frustrating. We first walked downstairs in order to request an outside seat. After being sent back outside to seat ourselves, we were told that the outdoor dining area had been closed.
Back inside, a request for a booth seat was denied because there were only two in the party. I've never really been denied a requested seat before, especially as the restaurant was clearing out after the lunch crowd.
The waitress was alright. She never offered to refill our drinks, and was absent for about 10 minutes when we were ready to leave. Eventually, we just walked to the counter to pay instead of waiting for the check.
I had a pimento grilled cheese with tomato and bacon. It was above average; and the fries were good, too.
very disappointing. Poor service and even worse food. The grilled chicken on the salad was baked, the crab cakes were greasy and haphazardly put together, and I could go on and on. There was only one server working and we never received drink refills, nor were we asked how the food was. There are much better restaurants to be found down the road.
strike three nofo's out. After many visits of not getting it straight, we will no longer go to NoFo. We were excited at first because we were actually acknowledged at the host stand. I always get the Eggs Bendict and another side of Eggs Benedict. Needless to say instead of a side order, I was served two full orders and charged for them both. When I questioned the waitress after being served, I was told that "they don't do that". I told her I have always gotten this same thing. She got an attitude and walked away. My only recommendation is to STAY AWAY from the restaurant.
Just a damn cool spot. Nofo has more chatracter than any other casual place in Raleigh (or the rest of the Triangle for that matter). It is so cute. The patio on a warm Sunday morning feels like a vaction spot. The service can be spotty but never mean spirited. It's all part of the charm. I never feel rushed. The food can be good to wonderful but never bad. My teenage daughter and i have made this a regualr spot for our Sunday mornings out. She absolutely adores the gift shop. It's just fun. Most of Raleigh is so boring. It's impossible to feel bored at the cute colorful Nofo. Yes the wait staff can be slow--so don't go if you're in a rush. Go when you want to enjoy your companion's company in a damn cool spot.
