Tips for Hibernian Restaurant & Irish Pub

new pub in North Raleigh food is really bad. They apparently make their money on the drinking crowd so keep food costs down by serving terrible food. Big disappointment.

I'm writing about the Hibernian in North Raleigh (couldn't locate it in Citysearch, maybe b/c it's not quite a month old). It's so very cool inside... mahogany wood, booths set in like little cozy coves, a library, details in architecture everywhere, little nook-knacks everywhere... A+ for ambiance. Friendly waiters (not hostess). However... they are like Nazi's when they seat you. I've been there four times, and each time, I wait at least 15 minutes, despite the fact that there are PLENTY of empty tables. They say their kitchen can't handle it. Ahhh... get a better cook? I'm *dying* to sit in the library, just once before I die, but I'm not allowed, for some reason. Makes me feel like I'm not good enough. Being older, they tried to seat me on this little round stool two feet from the ground, no back support; I would be in agony. Customers have no rights about where they're seated, even if you request an empty table. The seats dig into your hips. They ALWAYS seat me in the "yellow" room in back where it's so very loud. All this, IF (and big IF) you can find parking. I got the last parking space available on a Tuesday at 1:00!

I love the outdoor seating but I am never allowed to sit there.

Be prepare to wait a looooong time for your food. Bangers and mash taste plain, with mushy flavorless bangers/sausages. With the corned beef and cabbage, the thick corned beef was tough and grizzly, and the cabbage has a funny taste. The Reuben sandwich was excellent. I substitute coleslaw instead of sauerkraut, b/c sauerkraut makes me puke. Just sayin'...

I miss Duffy's, where I went about 3 times a month, at least. (I'm having she-crab soup withdraws). Due to parking and seating and waits, I may come here 3 times a year. While it looks nice, it's just too uncomfortable. And LOUD!

To their benefit, they're only a month old, so maybe they'll get their act together with the too-narrow chairs, acoustics, seating arrangements, and parking.

the food is great, don't get me wrong, however the management is rude and underestimates their staff. I'd refer customers to Napper Tandy's in a heart beat!

Fantastic!!. This restaurant was excellent! The food was fantastic! Best Shepard's Pie I've had in a long time! And the raspberry bread pudding is a must order. The environment was pleasant with a quiet quaint homey sort of feel with nice low lighting and tv's here and there for the perfect mix of up to date bar but with some romantic touches! The wait staff was exceptional and I received a generous glass of wine. If you haven't been you should absolutely go! It's a good taste of some classic Irish food.

You have to try this place. This place is awesome. Its very authentic looking, very traditional. It really makes you think you could be in Ireland. The service is friendly and they have $10 meals including a salad. I had a huge steak for $10 - amazing. Then I sat outside on the patio for a few beers and people watched for a couple of hours. This place has everything. I'll be back.

Great Irish Pub. I have been going to the Hibernian Pub for about 6 years. I always thought it could not get any better but now they have this $10 special menu which has a salad and entree. This place is always fun and staff always great "craic"

BLOWS CHUNCKS. I never write reviews but I had to sign up to write one for this. Honestly the place has some great character and Irish charm but the service (Waitresses and managers) are horrible and could care less about your experience here. As a matter of fact the staff is like a frat. Nothing against frats I was in one but they treat you like you know nothing because you do not work there. If you ask for more water or beer or whatever it seems like they are bothered by getting it. There is a blonde girl there that could care less about freaking serving people. She is in the wrong industry!... Also the of hours waitresses stay around and party with the people that are working there. Not very attractive and are typically crude to others. If you want good atmosphere and good service head to the Saucer, Napper Tandys, or anywhere else because you are not going to get it here unless something changes... THIS PLACE BLOWS! sorry

Go for the pub atmosphere.. not the food. Looks like it could be a fun place.. for anything other than dining. Went for brunch-- ick--- dry pancake pucks, shriveled sausages, greasy (but tasty) shepherd's pie..... very small brunch selection.. very mediocre....deserving only of a paper plate.
