The whole place needs a power washing, inside! We only go during the week. The weekend is very busy with patrons that don't care about who is sitting in front of them. People are always kicking the back of our chairs on the weekend!
Bus, please?.
This place is pretty fantastic. Although I did hear someone snort some lines one night while I was in the restroom, but it didn't really affect my experience. Just a minor topic for conversation once I left the theatre.
HOWEVER! My biggest beef with this theater is that there are absolutely NO cat buses that come by here! What's up with that? More cheap bastards like me will be willing to come here if we can ride the bus there! But I don't think that's the theater's fault, per se...
So, it's a good deal. Don't try getting here via CAT bus, though. You will fail.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS.
We arrived for the 7:10 movie of Gran Torino, the times listed clearly through yahoo. I noticed the person before me was buying a ticket for the same movie and time, and overheard him saying "its not??". He walked away with obviously not buying a ticket. I was still in line and I confirmed with him that there was no 7:10 movie. I got out of line, and met my elderly father inside who was buying some popcorn as I was SUPPOSED to be buying the tickets. I informed him there was no movie. We left....as well as droves of other people there for the movie. TERRIBLE!!!
After dropping my father off back home, I came back by myself for the 7:55 movie of "Taken", as I had noticed the time of the board when I was standing in line for the earlier attempt of watching "Gran Torino". I arrived, went into the movie and got seated, excited to see the movie. Parts of that movie are in French, and has English subtitles. The format was incorrect and the subtitles were too low so you couldnt read them (i.e. they were off the screen).
What a sorry excuse for a movie theater!!!
NO SIR I DON'T WANT POPCORN!!!!!. that is right, i just hooked up with the dollar menu at a familiar golden arch of the fast food gods". dont push that stuff on me bro. 5.50 . for popcorn you can wash down with a 8 dollar pepsi-cola product. "oh you'll have a dixe cup of ice water, that with be a quarter" A QUARTER FOR SOME WATER". they mislead me from the get go when i bought a ticket to go see Soccer Dog.i thought i was entering the wal-mart (if you will) of the movie theater world. "ahh" i said you myself " i am about to see Soccer dog" and all i have spent so far is a dollar fifty". the seating is kinda shabby.
great prices. My family likes this theater because of the prices. If you go on a weekday or week night the crowds are not so bad as on the weekend. It is usually pretty clean and the staff pleasant.
some helpful tips.
If you want to see a movie around 7 or later on the weekend, be sure and get there early. (It is crazy busy on the weekends)... Otherwise you will stand in line and miss a little bit of your movie. Oh. And at the moment, there none of the locks work in the stalls in the women's bathroom... so take a buddy with you to hold your door.
Hope this helps...

NOT KID FRIENDLY!. Just a warning to parents! This place, all of a sudden, is not kid friendly anymore and it is not posted. We used to love this theater which we have been going to since we moved to Raleigh in 1999 for it's low prices and decent sanitation, despite the outragous fare prices. The staff has always been friendly and accomidating until now. Today however we were dismissed from the theater because and I quote Mr. Chaffer of Blue Ridge "other patrons on the other side of the theater complained". I guess it was one of the other four people in the theater with us at 4 in the afternoon. The complaint that "she was giggling", she is my 17 month old son was ridiculous. I replied to the worker, who made it clear he is not the manager, that if the theater does not allow children they have to post it. His reply was "children are allowed" to which my reply is if you allow children you must allow childish behavior such as "giggling". To patrons desiring a quiet evening at the theater with no interuptions it should be obivious that you will not be getting the "Met" for $1.50 at 4 in the afternoon at an animated movie. You really get what you pay for and that is why we have always chosen Blue Ridge 14 and why we choose the afternoon so that my son can see a movie, his reward for working so hard in school, and no one is there. I always try to respect other patrons. I feel very discriminated against and my oldest son, 6, was very upset at having to leave. When I asked to see the manager I was told that he was "on break" and could not deal with patrons I suppose, nice priorities! I replied that I would wait. After sitting for some time the worker then came back to notify me that he had just been informed that the manger would be out for two more hours! Wow! No manager on duty for going on three hours! I was however given the phone number for the district manager in Raleigh whom I called and left several messages for and am still waiting for a reply.
Very impressed. After reading some bad reviews regarding this movie theatre I was leary about visiting. I was glad I visited the movie theatre was clean and so were the bathrooms. We went while the kids were tracked out to see Ratatouille. All tickets are 1.50 and we purchased a large popcorn with 2 large icee's for $10.45 free refills on the popcorn and icees. There were no lines since we went to the 1:30pm showing and there were maybe 20 people max in the movie theatre with us. Very nice way to spend time with the kids and you can't beat the price.
Best Deal in the Triangle!.
Hi Guys!
I'm glad to be back in the triangle after moving away for quite some time and I think Blueridge is one of the main reasons I came back. I know the snacks are expensive (what movie theater has "cheap" concessions?), but overall I believe BR is a great place to see a good movie. Here are a couple of tips to help you have the best time your $1.50 can offer: 1. Purchase your tickets for later shows early in the day, but come to the theater a little bit ahead of time for your movie...If you don't, you'll be sorry. The lines at times wrap around the parking lot. 2. Eat before you arrive and come with an empty bladder because amongst the huge crowds of bargain shopping movie-goers, there are some people that beleive the restrooms come with free maid services. They do look awful at times, but that is because people don't clean up after themselves and their children. 3. Bring some hand sanitizer and/or travel wipes. 4. If you do not plan ahead, bring plenty of patience. 5. Even if it is hot outside bring a jacket (It sometimes get cold all of a sudden as more people come into the theater...I mean FREEZING COLD). 5. Enjoy!
If you keep these things in mind, you will have a fantastic experience. I promise you, BR is just as nice as all of those other "high-priced" movie theaters. You will never leave out of that place feeling as though you have not gotten greater than your money's worth.
See you at the movies!
